JMan, I unfortunately think it will be very close to starting at that time. It’s going to be a close-call though. That is right when it’s supposed to roll in so there is a chance to just miss it if it holds off until 6:30 or so.

The winds are kicking up here. Starting to whip around. No more calm before the storm. Now it’s the winds before the storm.

jmanley32 wrote:Oy, this is terrible, first HWW are now up for parts of jersey gusts 50-60mph rest a advisory 45mph and into southern NY. My daughter is having a drive by birthday party at 5:30 with her friends coming and police. Is there any way this line might hold off until 5:30-6ish? Or are we gonna get soaked? I just don't want her gifts to get ruined nor standing outside to be miserable. Right now its not too bad but that line is nuts, I see 2-3 is my guess locally higher under training and possible power outages with the stronger winds and saturated ground.
I think you're good jman. The rain line is progressing pretty slowly eastward, and unless things suddenly start to fill in from the south, I don't think rain starting for you until well after 6pm.
These birthday drive-by parties are great. Our local police and firemen have been doing that in our town. A great memory to take away from a tough time. You know it will make for a lot of "remember when" moments. Good luck! And happy birthday to your daughter!

I told my city friend we were having a drive by birthday he was like wth is that they all shoot at you LMAO, dummy. Yeah it is cool, not sure how well coordinated it will be as it was last minute but at least she should see some friends and the police are go visit. Yeah it is looks training due north, bad news when it does move in, gonne be alot flooding. I think 2 inches plus may be underdoing it, winds have picked up significantly.

Re: April 2020 Observations and Discussion
Looks like you made it just under the wire JMan. Rain just starting here so I’m guessing you made out well to my northeast. But you’re correct: the fact it’s taking this line so long to move East just shows how long it will take to move out once it gets here.
On the wind front, I lost power around 3 pm. It was restored just after 5. Hope it doesn’t go out again during the storm.

It really did feel weird. I stuck my head out the back door right about 7:30 and I said something like "ooooch". My wife was like "what? I said "it feels weird out." She asked me what that meant. Being unable to explain it to a non-weather person..."I dunno hunny, but it's gonna rain".

Re: April 2020 Observations and Discussion
Oh that's crazy snow may 10th!!! Would that be a record? Yes thanks guys we actually escaped the rain which wasn't impressive at all as we caught the bottom end that was narrow and brief. Did not train. But it came in like 8:30 and her drive by party which was awesome was at 5:30.
