Sorry to hear that, but glad he had a good long life. Hopefully you see a little of his spirit in the snowflakes that fall this evening.

looking forward to a long night of watching the snow fall and get blown all around by the wind, while cozied up by the fireplace watching the weather channel with my choice of vice in hand.

I'm so sorry to hear this.  Sad  It's always so hard to lose a pet.  They are with us for much too short a time!

My condolences mwilli - I lost my dog this past summer of 10 years. I can empathize as many here can as well.

I moved to Beantown last March and started to look for a weather board similar to this one. I thought I found it and was pleased when I did.

When people here disagree it is often done with humor, gentle teasing and always questions and explanations as to the differences and why. Not the board I found yesterday.

It reminded me of the old Channel 7 board that Bill Evens had at the end. The name calling, derogatory and inappropriate (to say the least) words used. The fighting...oy, you get the idea.

You are all so lucky to have this place that Frank created to learn and share. If it's okay with all of you, I'd like to post my totals in the banter thread as I know this board stops in Connecticut. I'd appreciated it and still feel a part of this community that I have grown to love over the years.

Thanks, Taffy

Hey, Taffy, you are always part of this family! You just took a short vacation,LOL. I think it's great we get reports from where you are.
Oh, just so you know, there was a terrible radiation accident on OTI.Whatever you do, don't go there.I plan to re-open in the year 120,020!

Thanks Doc and it's good see see you. I'm glad you made it off OTI alive. This is exactly what happens when I take a vacation and am no longer issuing passports and visas. Anyone can come on the island with nefarious plans. I can't wait until it reopens. I think we may need new management.

Thanks, Taffy

You will NOT post your totals in the banter.

You will post them in the storm thread, and I will adjust my future snow maps to ensure they take Red Sox Suck into account. I will also remove the automatic word replacement I currently have on 'B-O-S-T-O-N' so you can say the name of your new city without having to deal with the silliness.

Like doc said, you're family Smile

You made my eyes tear up. I'll post my totals in the storm thread. I really do appreciate it and only do the Boston area maps if it's not too much trouble.

All that being said, please don't remove the Red Sox Sux word replacement because it always made me smile....and besides they do!

Depends on location and what you classify as major?

A foot? NYC?

In NYC it would be the fairly recent December 6, 2003 storm. The city recorded 14 inches and surrounding suburbs higher amounts.

After that we have the storm that made our very own docstox a weather fan, the 15.2 inches that fell in the city on December 11, 1960.

I'm doubting this storm reaches those totals in NYC but hoping I'm wrong.

The December 2003 storm you mentioned: I was 13 years old. I remember the weather forecast from the night before was for the snow to changeover to rain for an extended period for an extended period of time. The forecasted snow total for the whole event was 3-6 inches. But the rain/snow line never made it into NYC and we had heavy snow at times. 14" in NYC, with 20"+ in some spots on LI.

Did the dreaded dry slot veer it's ugly head again? From here on out whatever the Mets says, it's usually half of that. Why do they always miss the dry slot? Anyways to be honest, this was still a nice event during the holidays to get us in the spirit!
