wow, looks like its thinking coast may have gusts 50-60 even into NYC. Crazy wind threat, my question, does this pan out or is it one that like others will end up being nothing? How long duration is this? Do you think my area could lose power? I need to get some batteries if so.

JMan. I think this wind means business I see brown wind advisories and warnings from Texas up to Maine.

Wind Alerts are up for the entire region, with a High Wind Warning hoisted for Suffolk & Nassau Counties (as well as most of southern coastal CT) with Wind Advisories issued elsewhere.

Pretty impressive. The warning in CT was expanded west. Any thoughts if those 55+ winds end up being into NYC area? I can see at least isolated gusts to 60mph here with good mixing. Go be a wild night either way. 6z to 12z that's what 1am to 7am? Actually no leave it a advisory most times we get a advisory it ends up being higher. Most hww don't pan out. But this I don't think will be a dud. Get you flashlights etc.

Not to mention also go be up to about a inch of rain. Won't help at all except to bring winds to surface.

wow that would be very early. I also feel this may end up being neven stronger than modeled as look what NAM just showed and HRRR is similar. The LLJ is go be hard to pinpoint its exact setup shop until it happens.  Might go warning further west if that were to verify verbatim, look out LI wow

56 degrees , cloudy, wind picking up slightly.
Like Custer's last Stand, so the 75% snowpack remaining on my property is.I expect to wake up tomorrow to a few snow piles from driveway plowing.
I could walk around out there in shorts and a T Shirt today,lol.

Lee Goldberg mentioned a nasty squall line coming through before daybreak. I wonder if there is a slight chance for tornadic activity on LI, similar to what we had here in Eastern LI last November.

For sure...62º at the Shore, sunny with a nice southerly breeze too! I got one eye on the long range still, but there is a chuck roast and a rack of ribs smoking on my grill right now. Maybe I've done a quick grill or 2 so far this year, but this is about the first free day with full on bbq weather that I've had since December. Loving it...

68* this afternoon..hubby and I took a ride in the convertible and parked for lunch..by the water...I love winter, but wow what a nice little treat today.. you can see the front coming in getting cloudy and winds picking up..
