A sudden thaw and heavy rain which can easily happen there this time of year, and these people will see flooding like they’ve never imagined. Hope it doesn’t happen.

I will take the UKMET, much better for more people on here. But I am sure CP will take that Euro verbatim, I guess 6+ is still pretty darn good now to think of it but it would still be disappointing. But in more seriousness, when I saw the maps of the storm it looked like all snow all way down well past coast NYC area but judging from that Euro run snow map above there would have to have been mixing issues for coast with such lower amounts but model run did not show that, it showed all snow. Can you explain?
First nothing you are saying is truthful in the slightest. All your doing is offering up a pessimistic opinion on what might happen. The reality of your back yard or mine or CP's of anyone on here is not set in stone. If you want to gripe about it being too warm, without any reasoning other than "Well its this winter" and not offering up any actual evidence or analysis as to your reasoning youre more than welcome, but do it here.
As far as snow map details Im not going to take the time to explain why a single snow map 100+ hrs out looks a certain way. Youve been following along with us long enough to know why it may look that way. We all know at this lead time those details on those maps mean nothing. Iron out the upper levels first; then work on the surface details for your backyard and mine...ie: not until over the weekend.

Re: Banter Thread 8.0
Okay truthful in the sense of hoiw agitated I feel, no interms of any helpful analysis no I will admit its not helpful and should be in here. This is just very frustrating looking like one second we are improving chances with this one and then not sure and then not. I greatly appreciate all that you guys do and provide though at times hard to understand because you all seem to be on somewhat of a different page, which is understandable no one is going to have the exact same analysis. I think this year has just been way to many kicks and the fact that we have a nice coastal that could completely miss most of us is just so bittering, sorry but I cannot imagine that some of you must feel the same. I have seen CP (no offense) get far angrier than I was in this post and I feel like its okay for some and not others (ie me). I will from now on keep in banter for sure but this is just oh so frustrating but I am really hoping this will end up being good for most not just way upstate and far NW NJ. Though of course I want them all to get it, not wanting anyone to not get it. Nice meme from the sandlot, dunno what the other one is from.sroc4 wrote:jmanley32 wrote:Bah kick ricks lol jk, actually not being in the kill zone is a good thing usually now that I think of it. Provide the evidence please. I think not expressing your feelings is bad and that is proven or at least evident to me in my line of work, I should know I work with people diagnosed with mental illness and if they do not express their feelings negative or not they will just bottle it up till they explode, never a good thing. It is working to change thought process and being able to utilize coping mechanisms to manage stressors, anxiety depression etc. Yes I should probably take my own skills and utilize on my self but often it is hard to practice what we preach. If we are able then we are golden. Like my mom has always said "it is what it is."amugs wrote:What's the saying.....if you nothing to say.....then don't!!

I think it's been about 8 or 9 years (circa 2014?), but I still remember chatting. Sometimes things in a communal space get frustrating, especially when the one thing the community revolves around is not going to well. Sometimes you just have to take a step back and take a breath, most things are not personal and are not meant in a negative way. But when everything is going wrong, sometimes that last little bit of negativity can set people off- which is why we separate analysis threads from banter threads.
You can banter your feelings away whenever you want on my watch, as long as it is in the banter thread

Re: Banter Thread 8.0
The more modest forecast amounts now, 4-12 in the WSW for Orange County, was always in the range I assumed would actually happen but on the higher end of that range. I'm now convinced, at least where I am at 600 feet elevation 3 miles north of Woodbury Common, that even 4 inches will be tough to achieve.
Part of me, even though I love snow, is now hoping this is a total failure snow wise. Why not remember this Winter that never was as the epic failure that it should be remembered as. Let's go out with a gang buster of a bust and wake up Wednesday morning with a half inch of backend slush. It's the only way for this miserable season that wasn't to end.
Sitting at 18.5 inches for the season and need less than 4.5 inches from this storm to keep my snowfall futility record for a season. Part of me hoping for that.
