This is not good, I don't want to lose power, it takes all the fun out of a storm when you lose power.
CP, first thing I do when I move up to Monroe is get a natural gas powered Generac generator big enough to do the entire house.Don't care if it costs 10 grand.I will NEVER go without power for 8 days like with Sandy ever again.
Great idea Doc, but only oil here, I'm about 1 mile north of central valley golf course, they never ran natural gas lines to east side of route 32.
MY GF is in the area of Monroe that has natiural gas, town water and city sewer. That's why she bought the place.Under my expert guidance,LOL!
Town water and sewer here too, oil is ok but I would love a natural gas line. Good guidance by you.
Didn't want septic, a well or propane.

Hey Frank, mugs, doc and I are under a 45 dBZ mix of sleet and freezing rain, lots of thunder and lightning still...

You can see the clipper racing to phase with the back end of the low which is filling in nicely in a NE direction

I'm not as optimistic as I was. The warm air really hung in there tonight. It's hard to tell what this will do later on. Still thinking it snows again. Regardless, fun storm and full of memorable moments.

whats the axis of the precip when it gets to the area. The southern part of that precip is moving east
Moving northeast with some east motion
docstox12 wrote:Frank, is there any NE movement on this low?
Yes, hence why temps are beginning to drop (850's). My only concern right now is the precip around DC and eastern PA dies itself out before it get here.

Thank God we won't have a week of temps below 10 degrees like 1994.

went up half a degree here to 25.5.
Lightning, thunder and heavy sleet, some freezing rain. I'd rather get dry slotted than this.
But it is fascinating.

850"s in west NJ - totally over to snow in Hackettstown, NJ and heading our way!!
This is insane everyone - Doc 1994 OMG!
So does this mean the storm is back building? hopefully it lasts longer so we can tap into more snow!

Trees shiny with ice. I see more sleet mixing in. Pretty but dangerous. Don't want to lose power in the winter with small kids in the house

Insane amount of thundersnow/sleet here in Carmel NY! 2 strikes of lightning and 3 long/loud rumbles of thunder! Thats insane! I've now seen thundersleet twice in my lifetime and both have been from storms this year!

That's a good point.
I've probably seen thunder snows a dozen times in my life, but never thunder sleet until this year. Very strange.

Doc it's like pouring rain in a thunderstorm except it's snow. Unbelievable, but I'm loving it. Does anyone have an idea how long this is going to last ?
