First day went awesome today. I wouldn't have thought a company as large as Mars would have such a nonchalant atmosphere. People wear jeans, eat chocolate and ice cream every hour, and go to the company gym right after work to burn it off haha. Supervisor seems like a super cool dude - also Italian - and they even want me to incorporate my background in weather to some of their transportation modules. Perhaps trucks aren't arriving on time because of a weather effect, or perhaps demand is skyrocketing at a particular time because of a storm or something like that. The biggest thing is seasonality though.

Congratulations on a great first day! Like that idea of weather and the transportation modules.Did you ever think your weather avocation would be considered your first day?

Wish i was still in Dental Practice, I'd give you a bunch of my cards to leave in the employee lounge. Lot's of cavities with all that chocolate,LOL.

Congrats on the first day in the NEW Corporate America world!! A relaxed atmosphere allows for more effective production and thinking/problem solving abilities. Best of luck and I knew that one day your tremendous weather knowledge and abilities would be put to use for remuneration. I look into my crystal ball and see 10 year down the road you being the regional if not national weather prognosticator for Mars Inc and the model goes viral in the corporate world. Anyway, enjoy the ride and be easy on the chocolate or you'll wind up like your boss - many fillings - hope they have a great dental plan!

Hey wish me luck guys, as much as I will miss her my supervisor resigns as of Monday and I am close enough to my degree that I qualify for the position plus I have 7 years here (so I am submitting my resume tomorrow). It would be awesome, no more visiting clients in the dangerous areas of the Bronx or traveling all the way to manhattan queens or brooklyn, but I will have to learn to be a supervisor to multiple staff, which is not easy, and the director (who would be my supervisor, can be a real battle ax). Decent pay increase too.

While I am extremely excited to see the storm totals, I have some trepidation at the white out and blizzard watches. I was in Boston for the Blizzard of 78'. People died from being stuck on the highways and horrible accidents until the Gov. closed all roads. People be safe and take care of one another. Just my thoughts and thanks for letting me indulge in some sentimental slop.

Thankfully this is coming in to our area overnight, so no one should be out except for road crews and first responders

Completely off topic from the snowstorm, but just wanted to mention the passing of an icon of memorabilia of past film and culture, Joe Franklin, the "King of Nostalgia" who passed at age 88.Oldtimers here will remember "Joe Franklins Memory Lane" which bizarrely had such guest lists as Ronald Reagan together with The Dancing Dentists.You were a classic, Joe.

I was lucky enough to sit next to Joe at the Lou Costello 100th birthday celebration in Paterson NJ in 2006.He was a regular, down to earth guy.

On another note if I do not seem as enthused as usual its because I have that terrible stomach virus thats going around, one thing I will never wish upon ANYONE, its aweful, no food for a while, although im starving!
