Yeah, we got a lot of rain overnight. Hopefully second wave over performs but this warm air won out too long.

as of 3am only Sussex nj is 32* everywhere else is above freezing. even Scranton pa is 33*. we are going to lose about 2hrs of snow to above freezing temps and with wet roads it is not going to acc. I can realistically see cpk end up with about 2" with most streets and highways wet.

its the surface that's killing us. where is this cold air models were showing. it hundreds of miles away. 30-32* is not going to cut it with how wet roads are. no way. nws had me forecast to be 22* by 6am this morning. not happeningSoulSingMG wrote:Yeah, we got a lot of rain overnight. nws qpf from 4am on.
if cpk gets .6 qpf they will lose half to melting. 3" max snowfall unless qpf is wrong. what a bust this is going to be. bring on spring ready for some mild temps. btw changed back to light mix. 34*

Steve D is tweeting about this, but said just beyond the freezing line, temps crash into the 20's -- calling for a flash freeze to hit the coast by 6am.

skins we need to get surface down into the 20's before this starts sticking. every hour we hover near freezing we are losing qpf. I am not as optimistic as I was last night. we shall seeskinsfan1177 wrote:Still raining as I suspected it would the changeover for me is 7am. that's still 3-6" area wide. you have to get donw to extreme s jersey to get more than 6". what models can't predict is how fast snow acc. it can show .5qpf falling as snow and spit out 5-6" but they do not take into account melting. that's where forecasting comes in. to try and figure what amount actually sticks.

If you look at current conditions the cold air is working its way in. I was always anticipating the changeover this late even last night runs where showing it for me around 7am. And I was still looking at 6-10 inches it snows until early evening. Current radar looks impressive to me. Now is when you look at current conditions

It is snowing here and 34*. I think it just changed to snow in the last 30 minutes. However ground is just wet as its above freezing still and snow is pretty light. 2 things need to happen in the next 2 hours for this to add up to anything, the temp needs to drop below freezing and the intensity needs to pick up. Right now though 6" seems like it's going to be tough to get to. We shall see.

Not one with 20+ inches! Roads are shut down, major highways have cars trapped on them with snow drifts over the tops of car doors. Wild down there.
