It is usually Upton's authority to issue warning and advisory there. Imo, I think Mt. Holly should do all of New Jersey.essexcountypete wrote:Frank_Wx wrote:Winter storm warnings expanded
Odd the way western Essex is stuck in there with a WWA. I live on the eastern half of that dividing line and can literally see "western Essex" as I sit here. It's pretty much where the coastal plain meets the higher elevations, but I doubt the totals will be significantly different from eastern Essex to western Essex, and even to Morris.

Gotcha, it's just the radar thing I find so baffling, I always thought other than virga you could pretty much depend on radar.
It's the first time I've ever seen 20-25 dbz bands passing through for over an hour and barely a flake falling. There's a first for everything and this winters been full of them.

Snow is lighter here but is probably just subsidence due to what's coming in from the west.... I hope.

Dumping snow in Jackson! A few more hours of this and this will be the biggest storm of the year for us!! I think the rates are only going to improve around here for the next few hours so I think we are going to make it.

Don't hang your hat on that radar snow, those dark green bands are not even getting to the ground here and have not been for the last hour and a half.
Oddest thing I've ever seen.

I couldn't agree more. Too many schizophrenic forecasts under the current set up.

Good to have a fellow librarian on the board!!! Actually my job title is maintenance, so I'm always starting my shift at 8am before anyone else shows up. My director who's a great guy buy the way, later admitted to me he probably made a mistake by telling me to go to work when he found out that the other libraries around the area were closed for the day. Oh well, such is life!Dunnzoo wrote:Holy cow! Fair Lawn Public Library? I work at Westwood Library! We closed when we saw many other libraries closing. Glad you made it home ok.nutleyblizzard wrote:Let me tell you how my morning went. I work up at a library in Fair lawn. I texted my boss if the library was closed for the day, he texted me back to come to work. After a 11 mile harrowing drive to work, I clocked in and started my shift. About an hour and a half into my shift, my boss approaches and tells me he's sorry for making me trek to work and that the library will be closed for the day! I made it back home in one piece and back into storm mode with you guys. Currently snowing moderately with 3 inches thus far. Hoping for an over performer!!!

I warned you, you cannot trust this radar, this low level dry air is not showing on radar.
I just hope it stops advancing south for everyone elses sake.

That is odd. Never heard of that. I've seen radar show precip type poorly all the time but that is strange.

The best frontogenesis is shifting south. As the intense cold air works its way into our area, it also brings with it dry air. Radar is certainly deceiving right now. NW NJ to southern NY will be first, then it moves into most of NNJ and west NJ. Then NYC/LI. SNJ/coastal NJ will be in this for awhile.
