Some NJ schools are already closing. I swear, all you have to say to Jersey is "boo" and the schools close

Actually the schools in ocean county hardly ever close. They will not close for this either

There has been serious under-reporting of this storm. Now, I concede that if the winds don't fully pan out, this will ultimately be a windy rain with some coastal flooding. But, IF, the winds are as strong as forecast, there will absolutely be power outages, road closures and wind damage. We just don't get prolonged 20-40 mph winds with 60-plus mph gusts over several hours all that frequently, even in strong nor'easter's.

LOL! I always remember back in high school when we would get 2" of snow and not one LI school would have a delay/closing, but dozens of NJ schools would scroll across the screen lol. Used to piss me off haha

We are going to see huge impacts on the Jersey coast. Take a look down south it's bad and it's coming this way.

With the 0z model runs approaching, I'm hoping for another 50-75 mile jog east with this storm. That would put NYC metro in a more predominate sleet/snow event.

Tracks just off the NJ coast. Again, this is east of last night, which had it over NJ. Huge changes. I knew modeling didn't look right trying to ram this thing head on into that block aha
I am so behind on this system. I haven't looked at any details on actual models at all. Ive only been following the forum. Ive been so under the weather, no pun intended, since Thursday. Keep up the good job all.
Hope you feel better soon!!
Thank You...me too.
Feel better man. It's tough tracking a storm like this without your insight. Very much has been missed, but we're trying to hold down the fort here. Look forward to your return in full health!
Thanks Mugs and Bill.

The center of the Low appears to be near Calhoun, GA right now from the radar motion. The pressure there is 29.14 (987 mb) and falling. 20 mph winds with heavy rain.

East/Northeast winds are already consistently strong here on the beach. They don't seem to be very gusty at this point, but sustained and considerable.

Re: January 22nd-24th Nor'easter Observations & Discussions
48 degrees out and so far quiet with the wind. I see others have posted that this storm is being under reported. Channel 7 weather report has no video to load. Local papers are silent on the storm. So by tomorrow I guess we will see how bad the storm is getting and start seeing the local newspapers get jiggy with it. Has anyone noticed that the Upton forecast for tomorrow and Tuesday are not congruent with what is being stated in the warning? There are two different forecasts. The report from the seven day forecasts is much more conservative than what is being stated in the warnings. I guess that is why they call it weather. Or maybe it is whether or not. Or maybe it comes down to being a wether.

Re: January 22nd-24th Nor'easter Observations & Discussions
Am I getting this right that the worst of this storm will be from Monday afternoon to Tuesday morning? I would love to have snow from this storm but if there is a choice between sleet/ice and rain then I choose rain. CBS just had a commercial teaser about Noreaster coming tomorrow. If the HP can just move in quicker and the storm slower then maybe we are in business. Then the storm can suck in the cold air aloft from the North.

Yeah right now the worst of the storm seems to set in after noon tomorrow and continue until about dawn Tuesday.

The nam is slower by any 2 to 3 hours slower which means longer duration of wind

Re: January 22nd-24th Nor'easter Observations & Discussions
NAM shows things being particularly nasty after about 7 p.m. It looks like at hour 30 (around 1 a.m. Tue.) some cold air tries to poke into N. Jersey. Maybe we get some sleet around that time.
