The moisture is coming up from teh bahamas with lots of warm moist air - a pro met stated on another board this may enhance the winds even more and cause them to over perform once this storm gets NW. Feels it will deepen more than progged. Interesting and somewhat scary.

I know you're busy today but if at some point you could draw Syos a snow map of what would have been in LI it might help him.

Are you trying to drive this man singlehandedly into the Sanitarium at OTI,LOL.A map showing 36 inches over Jimmy's house would do the trick!!!
LOVE the phrase rjb coined about us getting a lot of sleet up here CP.He called the amount a metric crapton,LOL.Perfect name for a staff member at the sanitarium, Dr. Metric Crapton.
Anyway, windy, 36.5, 79% nothing here yet.

Emergency sand dunes now being constructed along parts of the Jersey Shore. Emergency crews on "standby" in NYC, expecting a "3-5 foot" storm surge tonight.

The experiment continues, soundings for Teterboro, Caldwell and White Plains show the warm nose continuing at the 700-850 layer..... I want to get as many obs from these areas as possible to see how the sounding forecasts went. They don't match the snow maps for sure.

Why do they wait until the day of the storm when this has been modeled for at least 4 days.

Cold air Damning filtering in. Check out 925mb and 850's. 952 freezing line well south of the area; 850mb down to the CT coast through the HV. Surface temps you can see are still well up north, but check out the wind direction.

Not funny. These comments are mean and hurtful. If they don't stop I'm going to organize a lack of snowflake (political pun intended) protest where we will block traffic until someone gives me my baby bottle do I can go back to being an adult.

Re: January 22nd-24th Nor'easter Observations & Discussions
Gusts here in Somerville reported up to 40 mph -- and having just walked outside, I'd say that's accurate. I'm walking along a path and noticing all the tree branches down on either side that weren't there this morning, then CRRRRAAACK. A branch falls on the walkway about 15 feet in front of me. Probably wasn't big enough to kill me, but likely was big enough to knock me loopy and put a good cut on my scalp. Word to the wise: If you are walking under trees this afternoon, especially where you see a lot of branches down, keep an eye above you. In fact, maybe just don't walk there.

I took a brief step outside while at work. It is quite chilly. With plain rain approaching, wind chills are sub-freezing...
