I took a brief step outside while at work. It is quite chilly. With plain rain approaching, wind chills are sub-freezing...

Temps wont be all that cold and precip will be heavy, i think that is likely going to be sleet and not ZR. Also ground is warm. It was 56 the last 2 days and it's currently 40

In general, the colder trend in the modeling has continued, and the latest UKMET decided to drop a nuke on the Northeast lol nothing major though ahahaha

Ahh gotcha. Well looking at SPC Meso, across all of the NYC Metro and LI all layers (925, 700) are below freezing besides 850. Might indicate sleet is on the way. Temps on LI are actually colder than up in Binghamton right now lol

Interesting developments. EURO may follow suit, since it usually agrees with UKMET.aiannone wrote:rb924119 wrote:aiannone wrote:Just got back from a 2 hour cinema class..... kill me now lol.... anything big change?

Why do they wait until the day of the storm when this has been modeled for at least 4 days.
It's very bizarre and disconcerting to say the least, especially for the Shore. I'm not sure if there's some sort of post-Sandy numbness now or something, but a 4-5 foot surge can be quite damaging to certain communities.

down to 39* here as it starts raining. sustained winds are 20 mph with the aforementioned 40 mph gusts. What is somewhat concerning is how much wind has kicked up already, hours before the worst of this storm. I suspect people who will be leaving work around 4-6 pm (like myself) will be dealing with quite the mess when they walk out the door.

EURO is disappointing. Warm wedge gets pretty far northwest, almost back to Aresian country, but not quite.

Jman..needed your wind meter...after getting my son from school(1/2 day-we have conferences) it was hard to stand on the beach...and the sand was pelting us...the bay was rough and you could see it pushing in...our flood gates are closed..high tide at 4:30 so we won't have the highest winds at high tide...

Can you check Poughkeepsie also? I'll let you know how it goes here.

F the Euro.
I've always hated that model, except when it gives me the output I want.

HRRR has it dry until around 7 here. After that, it's not long before it turns to some form of frozen precip.
So much for that. Light rain started.

Weird, I thought that a little north and west in Wayne would get sleet before Fair Lawn. I WANT SLEET. At least something frozen.

They're all about the same, it just depends what color scale you like and if you like ones that include precipitation types.
