Outside of what I think is a warm nose at 850, I can't make any sense of this.

I can't make sense of a high wind warning with calmer day than a sunny wind free day.

The wind is maybe delayed? Nothing here at all yet, just cold rain.

Re: January 22nd-24th Nor'easter Observations & Discussions
We have a 990mb low off the coast of NC moving due north - northeast. The winds earlier today were a result of the pressure gradients between the primary low that was near West Virginia and the High Pressure to our north. Now that it looks like a secondary is developing, it'll take some time for the pressure gradients to tighten again. I suspect winds will pick back up between 9-11pm.

Delayed wouldn't be the correct word choice considering its been gusting between 40 and 60mph most of the day.

Gosh I hope so (sorry to anyone who might lose power that includes me, in a heavily treed area) I dunno if was windy here earlier as was away till late. I just really do not want to be proven wrong again about winds never working out. Will wait and see what happens thats all we can do, and ya Frank I really was hoping for snow, this storm can go to he double hocky sticks unless at least delivers winds that I can go measure. Thanks for your updates throughout even though its not ur kinda storm.Frank_Wx wrote:We have a 990mb low off the coast of NC moving due north - northeast. Even if the winds don't pick back up its already a verified forecast. They've been impressive all day. You picked a bad time to travel if you wanted to see the winds
But I do think they'll pick up again.

No wonder I hear barely any rain, thats just missing me clearly marked YONKERS! Of course my luck lol, but I see hrrr has it filling in and MAYBE some sleet getting in here but iffy. Do you happen to know if any 50-60mph gusts were in southern westchester? Those maps you posted earlier today did not show very impressive gusts.Frank_Wx wrote:

That makes sense, seems the strongest winds were 7 - 9 am. Winds picked up at times but underwhelming overall. Most of Jersey looks to have got into some really windy conditions on a consistent basis.

37* and been pouring buckets of rain here. I'm right in the middle of that Atlantic firehouse on the radar. Winds aren't as bad as earlier today but they are gusting up every now and then after a brief period of calm.

Rain and 33 in Flemington. Maybe a few heavier ice filled drops but pretty much just rain. And 33. Has anyone mentioned that this sucks?
If not I will.
