For the old heads on this site, the other day Joyce Randolph ,who played Trixie on the Honeymooners, passed away at age 99.She was the last survivor of the original cast.

That old expression "a fool and his money are soon parted" comes to mind.

What I posted was harsh, you are right. It's a free country and one has every right to enjoy their life and spend what they want where they want. The perspective I am coming from is age 73 raised by Depression Era parents,

LGM! Opening day in 20 days! Felt like spring today, seeing games on TV now has me done with winter.

Yankees have have two opening days at the stadium snowed out since 1982 and one played in the snow.
1982 of course was the classic April Blizzard. There was over a foot of snow April 6 in the Bronx with temperatures in the 20's. Opening day was setback three days to clear out the stadium.
1996 was played in mid 30's with snow on through most of the game. The Yankees stadium organist played let it snow several times throughout the game. The outfield started to get a thin cover of snow late in the game.
2003 6inches of snow put back opening day until the next day. I'll never forget the announcers on TV at the beginning of the day. Game time temperature was 33 and most of the previous days snow still covered the Bronx. " welcome to Yankee stadium everyone on a beautiful day for baseball, pause, somewhere in the country but certainly not here"

Yes, that classic April of 1982.Woke up that day and NOAA anounced...'today, we have one of the rarest events, a blizzard in April".
'96 snow at the Stadium just followed the amazing pattern of the '95-'96 WINTER, when everything just clicked into place for our area.
That statement by the Yankee announcers was spot on and classic! I go back a lot further with Yankee announcers as I was a fan in 1960 and 1961 before my NY Giant Fan parents made me switch to the Mets, lol.Phil Rizzuto, Mel Allen and Red Barber.Rizzuto for me was the absolute best, hilarious and had his heart in the game.

I was watching this game, Tracy Stallard was the Boston Pitcher.Maris had a chance to tie the Ruth record in the same number of games as he had 58.They played Baltimore. He hit number 59 and had another at bat but Baltimore put in Hoyt Wilhelm, the knuckleballer.Maris hit one to the warning track, close but no cigar.
Notice the guys dressed in suits and ties in that 1961 video. An example of those days when people had pride in their appearance!
