ABSOLUTELY DOC two of the most ICONIC establishments in BC along with Callahan's!!
How about this in South AMerica - WHOOOAA!!
SUB-ZERO COLD & A RECORD 4 M (13 FT) OF SNOW HIT SOUTH AMERICA
Astonishing totals, especially given that we're only at the start of winter. According to the Argentine NWS, areas are registering their highest-ever volumes of snow this early in the season:
ll this persistent, heavy snowfall has put many regions on the highest avalanche alert level, including the Chubut, Mendoza, Neuquén and Río Negro mountain ranges, reports lugaresdenieve.com.
Accompanying the snow has been exceptionally cold temperatures, with the mercury touching a record-busting 23 degrees below zero in southern Argentina’s Río Negro.

you dont need a pro account, I can host it if you like, we can have a lot of people on I believe. They waived that since so many people are using it for work.Dunnzoo wrote:We should do a zoom meeting! Anyone have a pro account that can accommodate a bunch of us? Drinks on a Friday?

A tropical storm hitting us tomorrow? A surprise
We just got two pizzas to feed my kids and their friends. The pizza place was takeout only but the bar was open. Loaded with loaded people. Not a single mask save the bartender’s. I fear the next couple of weeks will tank the flattening of the curve and keep schools down and closed. People just don’t seem to care. I guess they think the worst has passed. Not!

It's as warm in northern Siberia as it is here (95°). Whether you agree or disagree, they attribute it to man made climate change.

It's ridiculous. This is like me naming my left arthritic knee "achy" and the right one "breaky". Give us a break.
Loved the old days back in the 60's and 70's with my NOOA Cube radio with the meteorologist in a monotone voice reciting a new forecast on the hour.Best thing for me in these modern times is the access to radar we have. That was not possible in the pre computer era.

“I need rain to disguise the tears n my eyes”
I remember that song.
Those were the days.
Makes me wonder. What music do meteorologists listen to?

Death Valley hit 130* today - no it ws not the hotest ever as some MSM outlets are touting. Here it is from NWS
Per the climate data in xmACIS2, this is the first time since 1913 that Death Valley has reached 130F. In July 2013, it last reached 129F. If valid, it would be the hottest August temperature at the site by 3F.
But Greenland Ice Sheet and Snow is going bonkers as is the Antarctica polar blast to and ones that have hit Aussie land, Tasmania and South America

Solar is coming to life and we have to watch these flares that are happening and why??? They will cause blackouts and disrupt the radio transmissions of satellites and other electronic equipment!

As a person who has been doing bits, skits, routines, music and song since 1954, I will tell you doc , we have a tough crowd here,LOL.
I was going to post "there are more tropical disturbances on that map then there are fleas on a hound dog in Georgia" but did not want to minimize the impact of that amazing map.

So I just got news that my dad has early stage prostate cancer. He has to go for hormone treatment and radiation through the end of the year. He says its not a big deal as they caught it early and the prognosis is very good and by Dec. he should be cancer free. crossing our fingers. He is surprisingly upbeat about it and I walways say happiness and positivity are some of the best medicine.

It was photo shopped. I took it from someone who posted it on a facebook weather page. Not sure if the kid who posted it there made it or not but it humored me. Figured Id spread the love. And sorry to hear abot your dad. Like he said though good they caught it early. The power of positive thinking is a real thing.

Docstox, my first car was a kharman ghia(vw) 4 speed.I didn't know how to drive a stick, but taught myself on the ride home after buying it.I was doing pretty well until I had to stop on a hill for a traffic light.Thankfully no one was behind me. I made it home no worse for wear, but after pulling in the driveway, I opened the door with the car running, car was in reverse, I took my foot off the clutch, the wide open door caught the hedges and put a huge crease in the drivers door. The car was literally like a tin can. Used to have to park it on a hill so I could get a running start to jump it. Didn't have money for a new starter. One of the advantages of having a manual transmission.Cost me $3.00 to fill it up. Those were the days. lol

Hey, Greybeard, as Bob Hope would sing, "Thanks For The Memories".
Yep, remember those Kharman Ghia's for sure. Was it air cooled like the bugs?
Yep, jump starting on a stick was a big plus with a dead battery.
That hill episode brings back memories.I had just started delivering flowers for the local florist in 1968, in the '62 GMC Van with the three speed on the column.Red light on top of a big hill.I kept the motor revving with the clutch barely caught to keep from rolling back. The whole thing filled with burning asbestos smoke and fumes from the burning clutch,LOL.
Once tried to get fancy and do a powershift cycle getting on to Route 4 in Englewood NJ.Got hung up between 2nd and 3rd, and the motor revved so high, I blew out the rotor in the distributor cap,LOL.My boss was not happy that day. You teach yourself how to handle a manual shift with experience.

We better hope this Solar Event doesn't happen sooner than later or man will be sent back to pre electric days. Many will be in periless situations. Massive solar flares that just rock our planet thus knocking out, frying up & rendering our electrical gadgets, appliances and grid useless and it is not a quick fix like days or weeks.

Such a great point. This isn't a matter of if, but rather when.
