Frank you're spot on. That is minutia that breaks hearts with these storms, however they'll get good snow as this pivots and the CCB slopes downward. I had mixing until around 10:30 when the column crashed. 850's are well below zero, but there is a warm nose probably around 800 mb or so.

Update: A co-worker's husband who lives just a ways up the road from me just did a measurement. Based on that, we have 15" in this neck of the woods. I would normally doubt a measurement that high, but not based on what I see out my door.

Does a longer than expected development mean more snow for the board?heehaw453 wrote:Frank_Wx wrote:Man, I do feel for the folks in SW NJ/SE PA. Went out to do round one of shoveling with my husband. By the time we got the driveway done, the steps and walkways were completely covered again. Not sure if it’s even worth it. Looking forward to whenever we can take the dog out though!!!

Clifton, NJ. Sort of near where Essex and eastern Passaic counties meet. 13.5”. Think I’m in between the two big bands currently. Expect a pick up again shortly.

Sleet now getting into mommouth county, NYC and WLO
https://weather.cod.edu/satrad/nexrad/index.php?type=DIX-N0C-1-12
This too should revert back to snow. We just have to be patient for this pivot to happen

Re: February 1st-2nd Roidzilla, Part IV: Final Forecast
NWS Mt Holly Special Weather Statement:
...INTENSE SNOWFALL RATES CONTINUE RESULTING IN DANGEROUSCONDITIONS... As of 1230 PM, radar and spotter reports indicate an intense band of snow across much of eastern Pennsylvania, just north and west of Philadelphia, to northern New Jersey. Snowfall rates of 2 to 3 inches per hour are common within the core of this band. The leading edge of this band however down into Chester County is heavy sleet and this will tend to change to heavy snow this afternoon. The band of intense snow should pivot or expand some across the Interstate 95 area into the western portions of southern New Jersey from Burlington to Camden counties from about the New Jersey Turnpike westward. The movement of this band however will greatly determine how much snow accumulates this afternoon and this evening. The intense snowfall rates combined with gusty winds are significantly reducing the visibilities to one quarter mile or less. This is resulting in dangerous traveling conditions, and therefore travel is not recommended across the areas being significantly impacted by this intense snowfall.
