Not throwing in the towel but when I say bring on spring it is for certain reasons I did not have a reason for when I was younger. Now the sooner warm weather comes the sooner I can start. It is very nice today, was warm even with just my coat and open for that fact.amugs wrote:This is what I see and hear many doing which is fine at this point but we still have about 5 weeks of winter left IMO. Interesting how peeps are saying if we don't have snow then bring on the warmth.... we live in a colder climate you know in the NE here, not in Mary's land or Virginia LOL! Funny as a kids growing up and even the older folks did not care if it was cold in winter - it's what its suppose to be is what they would always say to us. The ol' war vets would say - it makes you tough. Winter makes you appreciate spring and summer and then summer makes you appreciate fall and then you get ready for winter.

February 2018 I went out for a walk in Overpeck Park Leonia NJ and buds were opening on the trees with temps in the high 60's or low 70's.The whole week was warm.Fast forward to March 2018, 27 inch snowstorm in the HV.I throw in the towel March 15th if the next two weeks look snowless.
So true Mugsy about the old war vets, WW I and WW II when I was a kid back in the 1950's.No "participation trophies" back then, you cut the mustard with these guys or else,LOL.

That would break the lowest temp ever recorded in Alaska (I'm sure there has been lower just not recorded). I believe it was -80F.
The lowest actual temperature – not wind chill – ever recorded in Alaska is minus 80 degrees. That was documented by a weather observer at Prospect Creek Camp on the morning of Jan. 23, 1971

If this event does happens for us, expect another nice 12z/18z run today, followed immediately by a 00z wiper effect (out to sea). The GFS wipers has been a HUGE TREND and with an overwhelming positive result for us this season. I'm almost rooting for that at this point, because we've been enjoying this exact dance for much of the past 6 weeks!

There are several reports, but seemingly no geological or meteorological reason for it...

Some areas upstate NY got it really good and after this past weekend, it seems like Vermont, really got pounded. We'll see what happens over the next few weeks. I have a feeling some big storm is lurking around the corner for the upper towns in NJ.

I was a StormVista subscriber and they have great OP adn ENS maps depicting the precipitation field but their precipitation maps are not nearly as good as WxBell nor are tehir temps chart, teleconnections. I have found this to be and would like to hear others opinions as well on this. Thanks for bringing this up.

One pretty cool geological fun fact is that the Scottish Highlands, the Appalachians, and the Atlas are the same mountain range, once connected as the Central Pangean Mountains [read more: https://t.co/u9taoxLu3O] pic.twitter.com/VPWWK4Mqoc

Snow distribution this winter (so far) over the eastern US has been a bit of an inverse of last winter. Below is gridded (can be noisy) snow anomaly data from 11/1-2/10 courtesy of MRCC (not scaled). It's just to get an idea of the mirror flip. pic.twitter.com/L9od7UShsT

Hey Thanks for the update. So it seems that in total you are finding weatherbell more comprehensive than storm Vista? I know some folks use Pivotal Weather and Im wondering how they stack up as well.amugs wrote:mmanisca wrote:Hey all just wanted to get an opinion. I use Weatherbell for my maps and pay $25/month. Areas of the property that are shaded still have almost 6 inches OTG .Areas that get blasted by the sun are thinning down to where I am seeing grass.Overall, 85% snow cover.Areas around town that have been in the sun are bare of snow. Was in Mahwah and Fort Lee NJ today, no snowpack at all save for some piles.
Guys, remember Valentines Day is Monday.Hell to pay if you forget,LOL, especially hung over after the Super Bowl. I had a Super Bowl Party for 26 years, from 1988 to 2014 when I had my house in Mahwah before I was married. It started Friday Night and lasted through Monday moning. We called it the STUPOR Bowl Party,LOL.

Bernie Rayno@AccuRayno·13mI just recorded a twitter live. ALWAYS track the trough until it exits. I did not do that, and as a result, I was AWFUL with this last storm. My twitter live explains. It is pinned to my feed
