I don't know, mom. I tried reaching out to him a few times over the last couple/few years and got nothing back. I hope he's ok, though. That man is/was talented and knowledgeable beyond measure; certainly more than anybody I've ever met, and it's not even close (professors included). I really hope he's ok.

All kidding aside, I appreciate the discussion. I think we all made our points.
Same here, even though you and RB are totally wrong LOL.
Happy New Year everyone. Taking a break until winter returns for an actual month or more, not a week or two, that's not Winter. I calculate the return to be November 2097 when I will be long gone off this Earth. I'm hoping the Almightys idea of heaven is at least 4 months of solid snow cover.
Happy New Years one and all!

He used to post in here as well. His last post here was summer 2022. That said he is def fine. His professional career keep him very busy. Last I heard through the grape vine back in the day he stopped his extensive write up's and posts because he was tired of the constant negative feedback from the immature haters and trolls out there. He did it like the many of us, as a hobby. Any time you take the time to take a stance on something, you're subject to those who's apparent sole purpose is to sit behind the comfort and safety of their devices to point out only when you're wrong.
On top of that he now devotes the vast majority of his time to his career. Again I believe he is doing very well for himself, and I think for his privacy sake Ill leave it at that.

Re: Banter Thread 8.0
If you go to Tropicaltidbits.com under the global tab you can see the two runs rb was referring too. I’d post the images, but I’m up in the poconos now on my phone (not a flake all weekend…).
The GFS paints the northern portion of the board with a foot+, but NYC, LI and certainly The Shore don’t seem to do as well. The dividing line for snow/rain seems to run NW straight up I-95 and literally cuts right through the Philly/Cherry Hill area. Very dicey for you and a very close miss for most of the coastal plain.
The CMC/Canadian model (which I believe is the RGEM model…I think?) spreads the wealth to the whole Philly area and the dividing line seems to be more along the Garden State Parkway and Route 70. But even here, the city/LI does just fine and the Shore gets in on the back end 3-5”.
But I put in this banter bc as soon as the next run this scenario could change drastically or even disappear altogether. But woohoo! for something to track!!
And TRsnowstorm:
Thanks so much for the shoutout! Maybe it was the post of the hour, but probably not too far beyond that! Lol!

Don't know if you ever went to Maximus in Rockland County around 1980 but I was a bouncer there for all of one weekend. I was Big enough to intimidate but it ended there, a fighter I never was nor will be. Luckily it was a quiet weekend and the few problems that occurred were taken care of by others. I realized by Sunday night this was not the job for me.
As you said, it's why you, me and Damian are here today.

I have similar in the past, delicious heart attack inducing treats.
No fears I have been so numbed by the last couple of seasons we use to call Winter I will never fall for this stuff again. I also noticed my trusty weather app is already calling for 6-10 inches Saturday night and Sunday with rain and a high of 45 two days later.
If snow falls and it's gone two days later did it really happen? I say no.

Yeah CP thats depicted on the GFS, a frontal system all rain a few days later. I love the snow however a large storm that makes for impossible street parking makes me not hate the short lived snowpack okay, IMO. I totally get your feelings because I presume you have a nice garage. I cannot tell you how many times my car has been damaged due to snow street parking. Still hoping though but not letting myself get sucked in, to many times burning. Give me Snow OTG that day and I will possibly believe it lolCPcantmeasuresnow wrote:sroc4 wrote:

Scott that looks amazing and I am sure I would enjoy it but my weak stomach would not be happy shortly after sadly. Having a plethora of stomach issues is no fun and ruins all the food I eat, even bread sometimes, it sucks.

Well thats good to hear. Last thing we need is a Rogue CP being sucked back into the falsety that was once "winter".
I will say this...let this be my New Years pledge to everyone...IF or I should more appropriately say WHEN, and it may not be Jan 6-8th, but when it snows 6"+ IMBY again I promise a video of me doing another snow angel in nothing but the skivies. Its been awhile; a loong while!
On that note starting with you CP, I do want to officially wish you an everyone of the wonderful people on this forum, both routine posters, occasional posters, and lurkers alike, a very Happy and Healthy New Year.

2. Does anyone have any fridge experience? We got a new (cheap, landlord had the choice) whirlpool less than a year ago. This one is not cooling freezer well. Its a tiny fridge. The vents are blowing cold air but i noted that the bottom had a thick layer of ice that I chipped away and it was blocking up two vents on the bottom of the freezer (they do not seem to blow any air so not sure what they are. Everything is near frozen but mushy and ice cream cartons are squishy. I removed all the ice, though I have no idea how much is behind the vents. I read that if there is too much in the freezer it will have trouble cooling but it is so small in order to keep the food away from the vents on the bottom you can barely put anything in there. Is it that or do you guys think it needs repair? The fridge is away from the wall by a few inches and I find it unlikely that the defroster is already broken. We did have water leaking in the fridge too but that stopped. Also the ice cube tray does freeze all the way so not sure why everything else isnt fozen hard. I am also not sure if it is okay to crank the freezer to the top level? I have it in the middle but that does not seem to do the job.

And the increase in magnetic poles shift, meaning the North and South Poles are moving from their due North positions. We have not had an update in about 5 years even though the Chinese have studied and said to have a report they prepared last year but have not released it. Why? If it was not of concern they would have released it for peer review in the scientific journal process. Must be something there I’d conjure.

A 7.0 or greater magnitude EQ means about 1K afterschocks for sometime lasting up to months of 2.0 to 7.0 on the Richter Scale.
They are good at predicting EQ's, lets see how this plays out.

If you're 35 miles or more north of NYC expect to be in the cutoff area for a significant event. Be happy with 2-4 inches should it miraculously occur. Expect south of you to be buried and be happy for the snow deprived there.
If you live on the coastal plain, including NYC:
Expect mostly rain with some snow that never accumulates past one inch keeping the snow drought record in place. Expect those to the north of you to be buried.
If you're on the Jersey shore expect nothing but rain with a period of snow at the end that accumulates a half inch on grassy surfaces. Keep the senjsnowman attitude and appreciate it as the largest snow you've seen in two years.
If you're north of I84 expect a seasonally cold dry weekend.
Follow the above and you will have an enjoyable weekend no matter what occurs. Winter no longer exists so don't wish for things that no longer exist. It's counter productive to good mental health.
Updates tomorrow.
