May 2017 Observations & Discussions

I hope everyone had a nice weekend. Unfortunately there is a threat for rain almost every day this weekend. Not exactly a washout, though Thursday looks pretty wet.

Friday and Saturday this week may be the best days. Friday morning may have rain or clouds, but it looks to clear by evening. Saturday looks dry and mostly sunny. Temps will be in the upper 70's, may try to hit low 80's along the shore. The rest of Memorial Weekend (Sunday and Monday), look unsettled at the moment but there is time for change. I think Sunday could turn out to be a decent day if High Pressure holds longer over the Northeast. Monday does not look good. I'll have an update to MDW mid-week.

Mugsy, watched Lee last night and he says cool pattern until June 5th.

what a beautiful morning pouring and the wind is really ripping. how is everyone. i just started a new job last week so been busy and the weather has been boring. ill check back in soon!

not loving this weather needs be at least 75 and sunny dsily by now.

Rain rain go away lol I just want to know why Why everytime when we get into spring it's always cool cold raining Raw then when we get into the fall we have warm hot dry conditions why is that

Light rain.Two batches yesterday, first.24, now .98 so far overnight.It came down hard last night.All told 1.22 in the bucket.

It's funny that everyone I know keeps complaining about the cool below normal spring everyone believes we're having.

The reality is this, April was the second warmest April ever and this May is running from +1 in 4 of the 6 Upton reporting stations and -1 at the other 2 so basically average temperatures so far for May.

The summary is people have gotten so use to above normal they now view normal temperatures as out of the ordinary. It's our Brave new world.

Looks like maybe a little more rain this morning and then that's it for the NYC area. Should remain cloudy for the rest of the day with some peaks of sun.

CFSv2 predicting a cooler than normal June - i can see it be even when all is said and done - troughs and wave breaks will rule for the 1st week of June.

Today was a crappy day - high of 57* here with a rainy morning and raw day - miserable Memorial Day IMO. Worst Memorial Day since 2005 if I recall correctly when it poured that day.

May going to finish BN being about 18* BN for our area today. 2 out of the last 3 so far.

EPS now concurs with CFSV2 saying we are BN temps wise for June overall. Not saying we can't get a few warm to hot days in but short lived would be my assumption.

Dr Cohen says ugggh to 1st half of June coolness and wet as High lattitude blocking re emerges.
