Massapequa. Seems to be doing a little better than the north shore as of now with the bands moving in from the ocean. Close to 3 inches with strong winds. This band could put me over 4.

Re: January 4th Mothrazilla: Final Call & Observations
If you’re looking for the dry slot, come to my house. It is right over my area. Radar better fill in quick and get me a couple heavier bands before this exits later this morning or I’ll end up without much.

Yupp south shore has been ahead so far, but it looks like better lift is moving in and we are ready to go island wide. Really picking up here now!goalscore wrote:syosnow94 wrote:goalscore wrote:Jersey shore and southern nassau have 2-4 inches already. billg, looks like the storm so far is going according to plan.Shore and Island folks will do very well. We, or at least, I are on the 1 to 3 inch areas being too far N and W.Only hope now is a last minute west jog to help us get under a band or two as you say.Still nothing here but a band is setting up around me.

Re: January 4th Mothrazilla: Final Call & Observations
Then as phasing shortwave energy
and rapidly deepening low pressure move up the coast this
morning, models are in good agreement with strong low/mid level
frontogenetic forcing moving over LI/CT by around daybreak, and
then gradually sliding ne through mid to late morning. Heavy
snow banding is typically to the NW of the 850-700 mb
frontogenesis, which matches up well with current warning
structure. Also potential for enhanced updraft/convection
through CSI as indicated by negative epv above the frontogenetic
forcing. SPC HREF corroborates this banding potential with a
high potential for 1" per hour snowfall rates over LI/CT between
13 and 18z, with a low to moderate potential for 2" per hour
snowfall rates. SPC SREF is a bit farther west with the banding
potential, to the Hudson River. So some subtle shifts of banding
to the E/W is possible, with internal variability of intensity
and duration within the CT/LI zone, but overall fairly good
agreement with the Hudson River being the approximate western
fringe of heavy banding potential.

Re: January 4th Mothrazilla: Final Call & Observations
Well, just read NWS latest and they have me 3 to 5 from 1 to 3, so everybody gets bumped up.Just think the storm is taking longer up here to saturate the atmosphere. Also, I am forecast more snow Monday and Monday night!

Re: January 4th Mothrazilla: Final Call & Observations
Wind-driven snow here moderate nice thick coating started shortly before 5 a.m. I guess it took a little longer to saturate the atmosphere nice bands heading our way. according to National Weather Service I will be on the western Fringe of the heaviest bands they have me for 8 in with up to ten in the hwo
