JANUARY 19TH-20TH STORM THREAT

So everyone at work was bothering me for a snow map (even though I am an extreme amateur at all this). But just to lighten the mood a little bit, here's what I made for them. Horrible scale, horrible drawing, and most likely going to bust. Feel free to laugh.

I'm saying "Yes" to the map.

That’s actualy a great map, especially considering recent runs

Normally I wouldn't have given it a second thought, but given how brutal this winter has been to all of us it just seemed.... I dunno.... inappropriate. As somebody who has been on the other side, I know how it feels to see others enjoying what you can't.

Hey thanks! My drawing and coloring skills leave a lot to be desired. But I appreciate the compliment.

Interestingly enough, SREF critical thicknesses keep NE PA, extreme NW NJ, and lower-mid-Hudson Valley seemingly cold enough for snow and MAINTAIN a mean surface low track off the Delmarva and about 40-50 miles east of coastal NJ. This is interesting for reasons already discussed.

Looks like the 18z NAM has ticked north a little, at least through hr 51.

I'm sure it's going to bounce up and down...really it's a waiting game. When are we in range of the HiRes?

According to the NWS updated forecast this is going to be a very messy accumulation of snow, ice and sleet for my area. Interesting times ahead.

I have a question do you think my area in the Bronx will get snow first then freezing rain to rain then back to snow

* WHERE...Portions of northeast New Jersey, southern Connecticut
and southeast New York.

* WHEN...From Saturday afternoon through Sunday afternoon.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Travel could be very difficult at any point
during the storm. Rapidly falling temperatures Sunday afternoon
into the evening could cause any standing water to quickly
freeze over. Strong wind gusts Sunday afternoon into the night
could bring down tree limbs and power lines.

Latest NWS has me 6 to 10 inches with WSW.

Hey Aresian, if we are all sitting down here watching the radar show that your house is slowly being swallowed up by FEET UPON FEET of newly fallen snow and we haven't seen nor heard from you, no gloating no nothing? There would only be one responsible thing for us to do.....Wellness Call! We will sacrifice our coatings to an inch or two and drive up and check on you. When we find you hanging out in the driveway watching it all unfold we determine you well and then we take all of your beer and booze and drink it all in front of you like we just graduated Animal House. Then we are going inside your nice warm house to watch you shovel!

NAM still not looking good

If you're driving up here for all of my booze, you'll be wasting a trip. I passed 9 years clean and sober last October. I'll make sure to take pictures and share them with the group though.

18z NAM not a good look for snow lovers. More in line with prior GFS runs in terms of accumulation.

I’d be shocked if Worcester Massachusetts only got 4” as per NAM representation.

Updated watch for my area: Snow still at 12-20" with winds gusting up to 35MPH. I'll be lucky to see to the end of the block if that happens.

Hope Doc sees this he was ready for your area to get hardly anything!

Winter storm watches just issued for everyone. Oddly for my area their ice statement doesn't match that map by them lol

If this happens Frank was right on the money early in the week calling for a major interior snowstorm while the coast got little.Still lots of time and model runs to go though.
