Re: Banter Thread 6.0
North Pacific storm activity is quite remarkable at present. Today's cyclone west of Oregon is the strongest for October since at least 1950, and this weekend's storm may be even stronger (GFS forecast showing 940 mb!). And there's a near-record Aleutian cyclone tomorrow. https://t.co/DvqATL5Fg8 pic.twitter.com/JyS8kIua5X

Food prices up 20% easily.
Shortages on many items and getting worse as we are seeing massive supply chain issues.
NOAA making a shear La NINA generic prediction for winter. Gonna be a cold winter to start IMO as I've been harping on

Re: Banter Thread 6.0
This is just great I knew about it but did not realize how bad. Our landlord will porobably forgo heat this winter, they usually are cheap to begin with waiting till it runs dry leaving us a day or two with no heat but with this cost the probably just will say ehh the new borns and pregnant woman can freeze to death. And I can firmly say it is the first time I can confidently say you can eat out much cheaper than groceries unless ur gonna eat nothing but top ramen. I mean beef for one pack was $10!! We usually make one night of tacos with it, rather just get taco bell for $10 lolamugs wrote:Natural gas at $5.30 cu ft up from $3.

As far as oil goes, to stop the Keystone Pipeline and stop drilling on Federal lands, this is all it takes for the market makers in oil futures trading to whip up sentiment that drives up oil prices.Supply chain issues are complicated by rules in California ports such as any non union truckers , such as independents with their own truck, not being allowed on the property.Any truck over 10 years old is not allowed either, particularly idiotic, as these trucks are built to last 20 years.Ordering the ports to stay open 24 hours won't work either as the unions won't allow it.Vaccine mandates have decimated some work forces as well and there is a shortage of truck drivers. They want people who had Covid and developed natural immunity, to get the jab, even though natural immunity is 25 times more effective than the vaccines. Not being political here, just stating the facts as they are happening.I am a trader/investor and keep on top of these developments for opportunities, such as oil stocks up big time this year.

So true Doc, commodities - oil, natural gas, gold n silver at play - to think otherwise in an inflationary environment is foolish IMO.

We were lucky that the offshore low got close enough to be sampled by Buoy 46005 which recorded a minimum pressure of 942.5 hPa at around 1800 UTC today.
— Philippe Papin (@pppapin) October 24, 2021
Minimum pressure coincided with 5 m/s wind, so pressure at exact center may have been just a touch lower but close to min. pic.twitter.com/52fJr6kSIo

I am sure my good friend CP shares these encomiums about Central Park most assuredly!
Hope he attends the "virtual" ceremony on Nov. 3 honoring the over 100 years of accurate weather measurements. I have decided to send a gift of my own that day....... a yardstick and a pair of reading glasses so they measure snow this year more accurately!
