Re: Banter Thread 7.0
I too share concerns about this winter. I too am concerned about heating costs. And food costs. I have had my eye on the ball. As always we must follow our wits and our gut

And this. My best friend worked for FedEx and said they are telltale of the markets 3 months out. Wonderful.
My points above are to prepare and try not be shocked by the magnitude of events. For us humans it's hard, I know.
Keep the Faith.
For the record my friend despite my attempts at humor posting the Monty python vid, I 100% hear what you're saying and don't disagree. It will likely get worse before it gets better. It will def affect some more than others, and some areas worse than others. My wife and I have been preparing for some time now. I've bought more wood this year than I have in the past because energy prices are likely to sky rocket if we get a cold winter across the region. My wood burning stove will be in high use for sure.
Oh brother there are many more like you, Damian out there and myself. I hear with teh humor and I as a cancer survivor and NDE person when I was 23 put myself in the Holy Trinity to guide and get us through it. Yes we will all suffer somehow someway and as Damian said keep an eye on this. BUT always know we have each other and I have been preparing for 2 years now with food, household supplies, clothing for cold, medical supplies, economical maneuvers, and an escape plan if need be to my friends in upstate. I am just putting this out there because I care for my brothers and sisters and I hope they do not think I am the boy who cries wolf here but trying to help. Sixth sense? Maybe, maybe not, people I do follow all say the same as does my faith. I pray we are wrong but I do not see that in the coming years.
Be well and lets get some Fall like weather going as it looks to be Thursday and hold for a couple of weeks from tha recurving beast BS storm.

Hey, mugs, appreciate your concern for all of us here.Always good to prepare for the worst and be surprised pleasantly if it does not happen.Good idea for that upstate escape plan! We got a little hint when store shelves went bare in the early Covid days. That is what a supply chain failure brings. That time it was toilet paper.Hopefully if it happens again,it won't be food.
I am going to be 72 soon and my wife 70.We are both in remission for cancer, me myeloma and my wife bladder cancer. We both had great runs so we don't worry too much about the future, take one day at a time.As a cancer survivor, I don't look back or ahead, just live in this day.
It's a funny thing , I remember 64 years ago at age 8 crouching in a damp, dingy public school basement with my coat over my head hearing air raid sirens wailing in NYC in an air raid drill.Everybody expected a nuclear war.Cuban missle crisis a few years later scared the s--t out of me, Kennedy said there would be a nuclear war if the Russians broke the naval blockade.Bottom line to all that, I have lived through pretty scary times and ,amazingly, still here enjoying life.
God watches over His ,so with that in mind, be prepared but don't let it ruin your life thinking about the worst.
Be well Brother!

My Mom witnessed this in NYC back then.
In the days before satellites and radar, death and destruction from hurricanes could not be seen in advance.Witnesses to the 1935 hurricane in the Florida Keys said the early morning was sunny, calm and warm and by 4 PM, the area was in a full fledged hurricane.

Something else to piggy back on the discussion from earlier in the week. Again not to create doom and gloom, but rather make sure you keep your ear to the ground and realize that there certain aspects of society that are intentionally not at the forefront. Continue to educate yourself outside the mainstream, digest it, and then come to your own conclusions. Keep connecting dots.

Not a fan of bill gates, but with that being said..USA has 915 million acres of farmland and ranches..he owns 270,000 acres over 18 states...if you pull out one or two states...ND- 39 million acres he owns. .00005 percent of that states land...Louisiana he owns .003 percent of their farmland. I am starting to read on this....I am more worried about the fact that CHINA is buying our farmlands and the fact they are allowed to buy our American companies for example Smithfield. That really ticked me off

If there is a war with China, we can confiscate that land right back.More possible they have an economic collapse and have to sell it right back.I remember in the mid and late 80's economists here were crowing about the "oh so superior" Japanese model of running businesses compared to ours. They were even buying many properties in NYC.They collapsed in the late 80's and still have not fully recovered.

Gates is now moving onto buying ....water companies, next is energy?
The farmland Gates owns isn't true crop land but livestock land, hogs and cattle. For his Impossible meat (fake) burger that is laced with all kinds of garbage as ingredients.
Now onto more important issues: Siberian Ice and Snow extent is growing bigly for this time of year.
Where's your msm to report LOL! Or how about the ridiculous cold covering Australia or the cold that is encompassing Europe?
But a 2-3 day heat spell in London and you hear it like the earth is burning up

Hi Hector! Oh boy, I'll say! Hope your family is well and are safe. It's going to be tough for a lot of Floridians.

What idiots..all for a click.
I read a story many years ago when a group of people decided to stay for a "hurricane party" in an Alabama 4 story cinderblock motel about 400 feet from the Gulf in 1969.Maybe it was Hurricane Camille, but those curcuits of mine are not what they used to be.Anyway, the area got hit badly and the storm surge wiped out the motel. They were all lost save for a few.
Bottom line. These are dangerous storms and not to be messed around with. When authorities tell people to evacuate, they should. To do otherwise is gambling with one's own or loved one's lives.
I lived in my home in Mahwah NJ for 35 years, and the only night I ever was scared s__tless, was the night Sandy hit. There were 80 mph gusts.ONLY 80 NOT 125 or higher.Got completely plastered on Bourbon and found a spot in the basement to ride it out.My home had many 100 plus foot Oak trees around it.
