What idiots..all for a click.

I read a story many years ago when a group of people decided to stay for a "hurricane party" in an Alabama 4 story cinderblock motel about 400 feet from the Gulf in 1969.Maybe it was Hurricane Camille, but those curcuits of mine are not what they used to be.Anyway, the area got hit badly and the storm surge wiped out the motel. They were all lost save for a few.
Bottom line. These are dangerous storms and not to be messed around with. When authorities tell people to evacuate, they should. To do otherwise is gambling with one's own or loved one's lives.
I lived in my home in Mahwah NJ for 35 years, and the only night I ever was scared s__tless, was the night Sandy hit. There were 80 mph gusts.ONLY 80 NOT 125 or higher.Got completely plastered on Bourbon and found a spot in the basement to ride it out.My home had many 100 plus foot Oak trees around it.

Thank you mugs and Damian.
Pretty soon the illustrious CP will awaken from his summer hibernation with the first snow maps for the LHV.Can't wait for the first snowstorm and the tracking fun to come!
Trees changing rapidly up here now, saw some beautiful orange and red maples.
Prayers for all in Florida for the coming storm.

I'm up at Niagara Falls and there is some nice color. Glad I decided to come up this week. Weather was a little damp today and will be tomorrow morning, but the rest of the week looks nice. Nothing like heading north in the fall!

We are going uo to the Falls in a few weeks. Son is up there at Univ at Buffalo

This Sat it will rain and we will be in whippany NJ for my daughter’s basketball games with an early afternoon layover of 3 hours. Might anyone recommend some places to go, eat to kill some time? Or are we doomed to sit in our car and wait.

There are lots of good, reasonably priced restaurants in East Hanover, which is the next town east of Whippany on Route 10.  What kind of food do you like?

Offhand, I can recommend Capital Craft and The Office Tavern for bar food with a little bit of a unique twist.  Penang has Malaysian food, Sakana has sushi, Godfathers for pizza/Italian, Don Jose for Mexican.  These restaurants are all on Route 10 in East Hanover, and are within less than 1/4 mile of each other.  All but Capital Craft and The Office are lined up next to each other in the same strip mall. They are all reasonably priced for the area, but unfortunately none are “inexpensive” any more.

Thankfully I'm only cooking for 2 instead of 5 now, and don't have to go shopping all that often. Can't wait to see what awaits when I go this week!
