Morning. He did fine in the end. Spoke to him and his wife Early Tuesday. They kept saying “If this thing turns right we are in the car headed inland”. They just weren’t comfortable until it passed their latitude. Thanks for checking in Damian

This is what U.S. snowfall looked like, as a percentage of normal, during the El Niño winters of 2002-03 & 2009-10

The predicted jet stream configuration for 2023-24 is similar to those winters, but the key question is: will there be enough cold air? pic.twitter.com/kFH1XmYGVc

The closest point should be on Sept 12, but you never know with comets, it could quite possibly get brighter, or it could fade out at any point, so if you have a chance go take a look.
It should be visible with the naked eye in most places, but once you find it you can use a telescope or binoculars to get close-up views.

Exactly and this is why from a young age we educated our son on this day..he has classes today that I will ask him about later to see if they had any discussion on it being 9/11..curious HS was very hands off on the topic.docstox12 wrote:weatherwatchermom wrote:https://youtu.be/OJZi2t9bd2Y?si=56mgvhnV24VxnQzw

Back in the day, they actually taught history but my Mom and Dad back in the 1950's thoroughly went over with me Pearl Harbor Day, their generations 9-11, and what the implications were and how people felt the anger and fear as a result.Watch carefully what they are teaching him in college as well.

Oh we are doc..we are ..lol a few of the colleges we saw ...we ran from..we want a campus that is balanced ..we think we found it..,but fingers crossed...we have always said to him our views are our own and not yours. We can give you multiple takes but the decisions you make and ideas you have have to be your own...does that make sense..these are scary times we live in..husband a history buff so lots of discussions over the years. And we were trapped so to speak every summer my husband would play the revolutionary war documentary on the boat starting July 3rd... that is probably why son only wanted to come second half of the 3 weeks this yeardocstox12 wrote:weatherwatchermom wrote:Exactly and this is why from a young age we educated our son on this day..he has classes today that I will ask him about later to see if they had any discussion on it being 9/11..curious HS was very hands off on the topic.docstox12 wrote:weatherwatchermom wrote:https://youtu.be/OJZi2t9bd2Y?si=56mgvhnV24VxnQzw

Winter 2023-24 will see a negative or east QBO (Quasi-biennial oscillation). Based solely on this (MANY more drivers to consider of course), we increase the likelihood for a weaker polar jet stream, weaker polar vortex & greater chance for high latitude blocking & an SSW event. pic.twitter.com/zGUFKBMVjy

This means a trough over NE and a colder regime is quite possible for the NE.
