Re: Banter Thread 9.0
I gave up on winter outlooks because A) I don’t have the time to apply the necessary research and B) they rarely work out
So now I just hope and pray like the rest of you

This morning I left my house at 4:30 and I I smell something burning and there’s nothing going on around my neighborhood when I got into Manhattan by Houston Street. I still smell the same thing. I don’t think so very dry. I know we are dealing with a drought, is there a wildfire going on?

Also a wildfire in Livingston NJ, west of the city.

All this wildfire drought going on I never remember seeing this for a long, long time. We desperately need rain . The only thing that I am concerned about about how long this weather is going to last meaning dry warm conditions well we have another winter of mild and rainy again or will late December and January. We’ll have a turnaround to a colder and snowy outlook.

It's crazy, some of the coldest places have light snow but freezing cold conditions. That's why I always say that winter should not only look a certain way but feel a certain way as well. If it's not snowing outside cold weather still helps to reinforce the fact that it is indeed winter. I haven't seen anything like this in a while. We haven't had any sort of long sustained cold in years. The norm is warm weather with brief shots of cold, and within those brief shots, you hope for a quick snow event somewhere in there. We've become North Carolina.... maybe south Carolina

The dry weather does not surprise me as we were due for mean reversion after the wet and cool late Spring and Summer. My lawn stayed green all season long and had to use the sprinklers much less. It's early yet, but seeing the mild with short intervals of cold in between.HeeHaws snow map of CA is concerning, last year was the same, less snow.I'll know much better by Dec 15 what pattern sets up in this area.

I give up. I'm just at the wait and see point. Nothings looked good for awhile.
