Was at 13-14" as of 7:30pm Rocky Point North Shore Suffolk County LI...Check out the deformation band over Central and western suffolk...rediculous rates right now with occasional change over to sleet. It pelts the house for like 5mins then goes quiet again. Zoom in 4 times top left of the page

Re: Godzilla/Blizzard of 2013 Observation Thread
I am concerned for the people in CT. Power outages are rising by the minute. Snowfall rates of 3 to as much as 7 inches of snow PER HOUR. I can see isolated areas getting 50+ inches of snow. Without power and with 50 inches of snow, people will be trapped in their homes for days. I just can not believe something like this could actually happen.
Re: Godzilla/Blizzard of 2013 Observation Thread
That is me in CT, OMG it's awful. I still have power but I have to work this weekend. Does anyone know when this heavy snow will taper off in SW CT?

I'm at around 9 inches. Should get 1 foot. Lots of bands rotating in.
Re: Godzilla/Blizzard of 2013 Observation Thread
Over 2 feet for me, there's nowhere to put it anymore, I give up

Re: Godzilla/Blizzard of 2013 Observation Thread
Folks this storm has been truly epic for me. At 35 yrs old I am by no means an old man, but Ive have been around for some really nice storms over the years. In all my years I have never seen such intense snowfall rates for such a long period of time as I did yesterday into last night. I have not been able to get out and measure yet because I am sipping my coffee, but I am positive I have received over 30" of snow with 3' not out of the question out here in Rocky Point, North shore central Suffolk County. I am truly amazed. Franky I have to say your map nailed the deformation band extending onto LI in suffolk county...GREAT job !!

Frank thank you for creating the perfect snow map for this snowfall. Every one at work was doubting the prediction but you nailed it.

what an amazing storm!! i guess the oz 2/7 nam was right. 4 inches liquid 2 to 4 feet snows. it was just a little east, maybe 30 miles. gfs??? what's up with that model? frank and everybody great job as always. well going to have my coffee then outside to measure and shovel and enjoy the snow. going snow boarding later with my daughters. nws says 17+ inches for mt. vernon. looks a little less to me.
