All - it is good news that it's precipitating already. Helps saturate the atmosphere. The low is alllll the way down in South Carolina still. Don't fret a thing.

With a dew point of 18 I can imagine temps will take a tumble with saturation.

Either the HRRR will fail miserably or the NAM will fail miserably...

Yes. Snowing lightly at my location. The local news is saying the snow totals will be going up in my area because it started earlier than expected. Waiting for Met to come back on with details.
The Met showed his future cast model and it showed mixing in my area. ??????

I'm not concerned about that, even when its cold light snow rarely sticks instantly in very urban environment.

7th grade. With common core, we can;t really deviate but I'm tenured so screw that. I teach math and my kids love my class because I always deviate. I once had my kids do a whole math project based on hurricane katrina. One kid I had came back years later and told me he was majoring in meteorology because of me. Screw the common core.weatherwatchermom wrote:devsman wrote:weatherwatchermom wrote:were your kids at school excited for a snow day? my son came home with snow homework...devsman wrote:Sorry for the question. My bro in law works for the MTA and he has to take LIRR into west side yard. Very unproductive day. Last period, we found out there was no school. I had one of my smart kids teach 8th period. She was good. I let the bday boy announce the snow day to the class and they went crazy. Then I showed them snow maps. I may have created a couple snow
weenies.
what grade do you teach..and it is productive if you taught them about weather!! Teaching kids is a gift and I love when they are allowed to learn outside of the curriculum from time to time...my son has been fortunate to have all but one teacher who has made learning fun...

He needs a new radar if that's true. It's probably from 1917

32* and snowing moderately in D.C. Don't worry about the precip being light or mixed here right now. That is not the main area of precip. What its doing in D.C. now it will be doing here in about 3 or 4 hours.

Look at the 00z surface map from the NWS. I bet the low runs up the front to about 40 or 50 miles east of VA Beach. I dont buy the Nam taking the low to like Cape May
