January 4th Mothrazilla: Final Call & Observations

Heavy, wind driven snow.Very fine and powdery.Getting to look like a blizzard up here to me.Looks like an inch.Visibility is punk and getting worse. Drifts appearing on my roof now.LOL, good luck measuring this baby!

Lightning flash followed by loud thunder, I never have experienced this much thundersnow in my life. Cantore is missing the goods!

Walked off my connecting flight into LAX only to find them boarding my flight into JFK. We are actually taking off. We’ll see if they divert us. One quick look at the radar and I’m blown away at what is happing IMBY at the moment. So jealous. Enjoy folks.

Hawaii is nice but man wish you could make it back just in time, the winds are nuts, i find it hard to believe they can land safely here.

I drove all the way to work, only to be told to go home. I made it home just in time to see that mega band about to move in!

Man Orville is out in eastern Suffolk where the twin forks come together on the northern end

track lightning ie. thindersnow.  Most are in eastern CT with 6 strikes near mohegan sun casino. wow! Those are prolly where u saw them from as thats right across from the forks.

Looks like the heavy echoes coming from the Atlantic will make serious inroads into Jersey. Storm must be correcting west as we speak.

Winds picked up and gusting over 30 based on my home station. Got to be over half a foot on the ground here.

Nice means further west banding here too!

Sorry guys since I last posted it happened two more times. Manorville is just west of Hampton Bays, like Syo said just before you get to the twin forks. About 65 miles east of NYC.

I see it coming onshore off the Sound, coming down pretty good now. Measuring this snow is almost futile.

I hope all LI'ers remember the sacrifice you made, so they could receive this  storm. Every January 4th should be celebrated from this point forward as Sroc day on LI.

Jersey shore getting crushed by those bands rolling in. At first I was thinking the yellow on the radar was sleet, but it's too cold for that. It's just heavy snow. Just wow.

Moderate blowing snow.
Heavy band swingong in.
Precipitation field on the Western flank is a bit stronger than depicted by some models.

This is the south shore of Long island at Babylon docks.  Bay is frozen..look like the Arctic circle with the winds!!
