Interesting Doc, but as I was looking through some stats and some operational runs and getting depressed this morning, I had almost the same thought. We have to be nearing or at the bottom of the barrel now don't we? It has to start improving soon, just based on the law of averages.
I am a big believer in reversions to the mean and from this low point, we have nowhere to go but up.Lot's of snowtime still left to let it happen. We have been hit hard in March in recent years so maybe then. This next weekend storm could thread the needle as well and blow up off the coast. As Tim Robbins said in "Shawshank", "hope is a good thing"!!! Not giving up until March 15th! Hold fast CP!!!
April 1st in the HV Doc. Been hammered many times in late March and even in Early April.

End of January with heavy rain and 38.2. Models say 1.5" and that may be under doing it a bit IMBY. Rest of January will be devoid of any snowfall. Predict minimal snow for quite some time and you will probably be spot on.

Sun came out for about 1/2 hour and gave me this as I came out of the gym:
I have never in my life seen two full rainbows before together.

1.3" of rain today, had to dodge the rain at CitiField for fanfest. Thankful it was mostly indoors!

14.5 was the low this morning. One of the rare mid teens this winter.
I must say January will not be missed. I'm not sure of IMBY AN, but +8 sounds reasonable. Quite amazing that I got 4.5" of snow during the month. Would think nothing more than T with those temperatures.

Re: January 2020 Observations and Discussion
Last day of January snow cover. As you can see only the highest elevations of Upstate NY and New England have decent depths.
That will be changing as a baroclinic zone sets up and waves of low pressure dumps on upstate NY and New England. Not sure we'll be able participate in that. But you never know.

thanks for that info. I would have said more like +8. Few cold days in the mix I guess kept it lower than I thought.

Still the 11th warmest January in 151 years of record keeping.
A terrible month.

Agreed. But interesting observation. Last year I think it was near normal (maybe you can confirm CP) regarding January temps, but actually more snow occurred this year @ +6.5 than last. Both modest amounts of snow, but goes to show that well timed events are critical to snowfall. Even great patterns don't produce sometimes which I consider even more frustrating...

0.2 inches last night brings the seasonal to 19.0 inches.
A horrible stretch since Dec 22nd. Very similar to 2011/12
