Massive and by NHC as well who are usually pretty good. Imagine tihs were to happen in USA - NOLA or Gold Coast of Florida? The damage and death would be ridiculous, heads would literally roll - I know Andrew and michale were at those scales but a widerspread scenerio?
How about thes temperature differences. This is holy mother of cold for October in the Northern Plains!!

Here is the link to the show. The one thing Dave Tellaris mentioned he is watching is the PDO. The show is usually an hour, but having him and meteorologist Bill Goodman from Upton took a while. I will have to re-watch it again myself and write things down and see how they do. lol

He also said to watch the MEI and El Nino. He said they usually match, but they aren't this year, so that's why some long range forecasts are all over the place, no one knows which will be the dominating factor(s) for the winter.

Sorry but they are far from the truth with this. It is totally sun driven and a cycle of nature. Meridional Jet Structure is so wavy and whacky due to the solar minimum we have entered. NASA is actually validating as are many scientists with papers written and published on this topic (Dr. Willie Soon is one for example) this and it will only get worse as we head deeper into this 11-yearcycle only to be followed up by 2-3 more 11-year cycles of deeper minimum. It has happened before and will again.

In the middle of December in 1960, a terrible mid air collision involving a United DC8 jet and a TWA Turboprop Constellation happened over Staten Island.I was 10 at the time and it is burned in my memory.Maybe the old heads here will remember it.Correction to the article, there was one survivor, Stevie Baltz age 11 who was travelling alone on the DC 8.He was found in a snowbank, the leftovers from the Dec 11-12 major snowstorm that hit the tri state area.He passed a few days later.

Nope according to urban legend it’s only a jinx if you buy a new snowblower. I’m having mine serviced. It’s having performance issues!Dunnzoo wrote:nutleyblizzard wrote:I’m having my ariens snowblower serviced this week and it’s not going to be cheap. This winter better deliver.

Hype or Truth?? Time will tell
I put out a statement yesterday to my clients. The. Period December 1, 2023 through December 1, 2024 for the gulf states and eastern part of the United States could be the most costly on record from El Niño storms this winter and a hurricane season from hell next year.

I can’t see the article. It pops up for a second but then just comments but I got the drift. Don’t let batteries get cold. They don’t work well. For my tractor, same deal. I have sn indoor spark plug. I switched them in winter and it started right up. Of course cold affects engines and machines. The thing is sales people will say anything to sell. I guess no one asked the Mn and Dakota crowds what they thought

Operating snow plows in cold temperatures where you need power for heat, running the plow , as well as operating the truck ,is going to drain batteries on an electric truck.Back to the drawing board EV peeps,LOL.

Re: Banter Thread 8.0
It is a sad state of affairs but older people (like me) feel the cold more. Yesterday, when I went to vote at our local church, my neighbor pulled up next to me and we chatted but he said what I feel: "I'm always cold anymore. I feel the cold more." and this is so true. So I do not trust myself to gauge Nov so far but some days have felt cooler than I would expect. Yes, there were a few beautiful days but my mind is adding up 2+2 and getting 5 (it will be a real cold and snowy winter).
It will be interesting to see which camp (warmer than usual/colder than usual) will be the right one. Myself, I think it is a cooler Nov and this teases me into a colder Dec and so on but I know it has been warmer than ever every year here lately. All I know is even with the heat on last night, I felt like a block of ice in bed, like I had just been pulled off of the ice truck for the ice box.

I remember when 50s felt nice, and I wouldn't grab a coat until it hit 40. Now I feel cold. I don't know if it's because it has been breezy and more cloudy lately so you don't feel the warmth of the sun, or it's me getting older too lol
