AS OF 9 AM...A BAND OF VERY HEAVY SNOW WITH SNOWFALL RATES OF 3 TO
6 INCHES PER HOUR HAS OVERSPREAD COASTAL PORTIONS OF THE
REGION...COLLOCATED WITH AN INTENSE FRONTOGENETIC BAND LIFTING
NORTH FROM CENTRAL NJ AND OFF THE OCEAN. REPORTS OF 3 TO 4 INCHES
IN 30 MINUTES HAVE BEEN COMING INTO THE OFFICE UNDER THIS BAND. IN
ADDITION...WIND GUSTS OF 35 TO 45 MPH ARE DEVELOPING ALONG THE
COAST...RESULTING IN NEAR ZERO VISIBILITY AT TIMES.
THIS HEAVY SNOW BAND WILL CONTINUE TO WORK NORTHWARD INTO THE
LOWER HUDSON VALLEY AND SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT THROUGH 11
AM...COMBINED WITH 25 TO 35 MPH GUSTS...WITH RAPIDLY DETERIORATING
CONDITIONS. AROUND 1 FT OF SNOW LIKELY FROM MID MORNING THROUGH
MID AFTERNOON ACROSS THE INTERIOR WITH THIS BAND.

Long time reader and follower here from the old accuweather board. You guys do a fantastic job. City school teacher as well, not quite sure what they were thinking. Makes a huge difference to have the 20 of my 90 students I teach here today. I have turned a bunch of the teachers here onto your board for the most accurate info each storm and told them to stop listening to local mets. Well done as usual, keep up the good work. Also a LI south shore follower. Trying to get an update from the wife about conditions there, but she's not as into weather as I am.

Very Heavy snowfalling here in Flemington, NJ. Coming down sideways, very large flakes and a ton of it. Gotta be 2 inches an hour at minimum.

Extremely windy with high gusts and mostly heavy snow that switches from huge flakes to small ones with some sleet mixed in but not much, holding at 29*

Could they issue blizzard warnings for only three hours? Or high wind warnings?

R/S line battleground right now is just south of LI down through southern jersey. If this keeps up...LI is going to be right up there with snow totals. Still heavy snow here with barely a few sleet pellets mixed in...but the R/S line looks to be moving south east some more like you said.

Frank - can you post your snow map here? I get the words but no maps in the other thread. I had no problems viewing the original set of maps you posted yesterday. I want to try on another computer to see if it will work there, but my son refuses to get off of his computer! Lol
Thanks!!!!
Thanks!!!!

had a half hour of nothing but ice pellets now there are big flakes mixing back in and it seems to be transitioniing back to snow. Is this a trend? Maybe R/S line has stopped and getting forced back out?

R/S line just isn't breaking the barrier beaches. Hopefully the intensity lightens when it does otherwise there's going to be some serious flooding. The ground below is petrified.

Mostly sleet now, just what I don't want to add on top of 8" of snow. Would pay very well for someone to plow me out. Anybody know anyone interested in shoveling later?
