Through 7 AM Central Park's snowfall measurement is at 2.0". I wonder what it will be when this snowband passes

Temp up to 31 but it's all snow, super-fine, and blowing like mad. Also I might have heard a peal of thunder. It was either that or an unseen truck bouncing in a foot deep pothole a block away.

And yes, people are out there driving in it, even though a plow hasn't come through since about 6am and there's got to be at least 6 inches in the street. A few taxis, but mostly just private vehicles, maybe one every 5 minutes. What the heck is so important they have to go out in this weather?? Cigarets and lottery tickets?! (We're 2 blocks from 7-11)

It looks to me like a blizzard out there.Heavy, windswept snow. Can barely see one block now.

5 inches now, looks like 2 to 3 inch rate.

from upton .NEAR TERM /UNTIL NOON TODAY/...

AS OF 9 AM...A BAND OF VERY HEAVY SNOW WITH SNOWFALL RATES OF 3 TO
6 INCHES PER HOUR HAS OVERSPREAD COASTAL PORTIONS OF THE
REGION...COLLOCATED WITH AN INTENSE FRONTOGENETIC BAND LIFTING
NORTH FROM CENTRAL NJ AND OFF THE OCEAN. REPORTS OF 3 TO 4 INCHES
IN 30 MINUTES HAVE BEEN COMING INTO THE OFFICE UNDER THIS BAND
. IN
ADDITION...WIND GUSTS OF 35 TO 45 MPH ARE DEVELOPING ALONG THE
COAST...RESULTING IN NEAR ZERO VISIBILITY AT TIMES.

THIS HEAVY SNOW BAND WILL CONTINUE TO WORK NORTHWARD INTO THE
LOWER HUDSON VALLEY AND SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT THROUGH 11
AM...COMBINED WITH 25 TO 35 MPH GUSTS...WITH RAPIDLY DETERIORATING
CONDITIONS. AROUND 1 FT OF SNOW LIKELY FROM MID MORNING THROUGH
MID AFTERNOON ACROSS THE INTERIOR WITH THIS BAND.

WOW this is heavier than lake effect snow! well than again we do have a rather large lake in our area. the atlantic ocean.lol

Nice tilt on the trough now. So the low should begin deepening fast as tom said.

I'm still in light snow. Is there a possibility I won't be getting the heavier snow bands here in EPA?

I measured 8.2" not too long ago.
It really is blizzard conditions at times, in those really heavy bands when the winds kicks up its almost disorienting, if i wasn't in my own neighborhood i'd probably walk into a pole lol.
NYC schools really should be closed. Walking was next to impossible.
The old ice laying around is all covered now, I saw a car back up into a covered pile of ice cracked the bumper.
