January 2017 Observations & Discussions
So December ends with our area, as usual, from +0.8 to +2.4 degrees above normal due mostly to the last 10 days of December being over 7 degrees above normal. What started out as a promising month weather wise ended as another unmitigated disaster. When does it end? Is it to much to ask for a month or two of average or God forbid below average temperatures? Time will tell.

Frank:
I'm using the December deviation for all 6 Upton reporting stations. It ranges from 0.8 above in Central Park to 2.4 above at Bridgeport.
Newark, JFK, LGA and Islip are all somewhere in between 0.8 and 2.4

Whats good is that most jobs are observing New Years day tomorow, so a lot of people are still off. Its even on the calender as the observed day. I know many people who are not working tomorrow so thats a good thing if there is going to be icing. And whats with the cutoff at NYS border? Is everything east of jersey border not having any icing issues? Or is that just a catchman area?
