With CPK's 1.2" last night. It has now moved from 2nd lowest to 4th lowest seasonal snowfall. The 2.8" from 1972-73 (though it overtook it weeks ago), the 3.5" from 2001-02 and the 3.8" from 1918-19 will still be less than 2016-17, which now has 4.4" total.

19* and wind chill is probably near single digits. With all the snow cover like a giant refrigerator out there.

Re: January 2017 Observations & Discussions
Looks like we could see some snow Tuesday afternoon. It's expected to change to rain early Wednesday though. Accumulations will probably be in the C-3" area.

Re: January 2017 Observations & Discussions
Interesting how NWS has no forecast of snow for Tuesday. Arctic airmass in place with a deep cold snowpack may cause this cold air to be stubborn to leave.

Snow for the area on Tuesday afternoon.
Thinking C-2" before switching to rain. This includes NYC and LI. Jersey Shore may be too warm.

Frank, that map looks like all rain to me though I have a hard time believing this cold air is going to just leave without a fight.

Re: January 2017 Observations & Discussions
Frigid.
Update on Tuesday:
It looks like the precip wants to arrive later in the day. That gives temperatures a chance to warm up. I would not expect much in the way of wintry weather tomorrow except for those N&W of NYC. I think those areas can start as snow or mix before changing to rain.
