Old timer I’m in Syosset. Ratios gotta be high. It’s 25 and dropping. Very powdery snow. I went from 1” ar 4 am to easy 5” now. It’s sick outside.
And look what’s coming in off the ocean. 8 more hours of this and the 3k NAM will verify

[ltr] Concerning...Heavy snow [/ltr]
[ltr] Valid 041106Z - 041700Z[/ltr]
[ltr] SUMMARY...Snow rates will increase in intensity through midday, with max rates to 3"/hr into southern New England after about 10am local time.[/ltr]

The heaviest snow bands were affecting eastern New Jersey as of 10Z but heavy snow was rapidly developing across Long Island. Alex, get a load of the big stuff coming in from the South East on our wonderful Island!!

Re: January 4th Mothrazilla: Final Call & Observations
Best part is H5 closed off just offshore of Hatteras and is intensifying, which means it should continue to draw our lower-level circulations and associated forcings northward and somewhat westward. Check the regional radar and you can see our center is still moving due north......WELL INSIDE THE BENCHMARK. Along and east of I-95 you guys (and gals) reap the rewards, though, since this system is so deep lol My guess - that mega band rotating in from offshore gets very near or into NYC proper. Amazing.

23 degrees. Feels like -3. Winds steady at 28 MPH. Snow still coming in sideways. It's hard to measure snow amounts due to wind and drifting. I got .07 but that is not reliable.

6" in barnegat, still hard to tell with blowing/drifting. Sideways snow. Wicked winds. I work just outside of Atlantic City. That would have been one crazy 30 mile drive down the GDP.

Skins reading Ace’s posts the last 24 hours it was obvious to me he thought we would all be over a foot on the coast. Shoot I might be there by 11:00 am if this band holds together.

Re: January 4th Mothrazilla: Final Call & Observations
The worst of the storm for eastern NJ, NYC, and LI is between 10am-2pm. As rb mentioned H5 already closed off. Expect rapid intensification and prolific snow rates later today. Some places will easily surpass 15 inches of snow (highest mark on my snow map). I can see someone getting 18 inches.
