What does this mean?
It means two things. First many of the long range forcasts had Feb the warmest month of the winter season flipping to a torch in fact. If what you see here comes to fruition THAT WILL NOT HAPPEN. Second, if this happen it WILL be cold and there will likely be several snow chances.

I know, one storm at a time, but after the biggie we're currently pumped to see, late in the next week we warm up a bit, but then somewhere between the 8th-10th we may be tracking another doozy! Exciting times!

Certainly not unheard of. In the initial storm thread for tomorrow I was pointing out similarities in this storm and the blocking set up for the Feb 9-10, 2010 storm and dynamics. In Feb 2010 there were three major storms to hit this region: Feb 5-6, Feb 9-10, and Feb 26 (I think). Maybe this month will be echos of 2010.

Yes mugs. What's interesting is the mjo in 6 heading to 7 should have a se ridge/ warm east and trough in the west in February. But that doesn't look to be the case this February. It's been pretty clear that the MJO had very little influence on the pattern this year.amugs wrote:algae888 wrote:Guidance hs lost the wound up cutter now has a frontal passage followed by a follow up wave which could bring more wintry weather next weekend

Neg EPO coming up, Negative NAO, Negative AO,; All good for cold air here. Not sure what to make of the fact that MJO is in 7 and there is a Negative PNA signal. Seems like some of these signals are at odds.
