It’s a mix of light snow and sleet here. I think sleet is dominating here in Nutley now

still raining and hard no flskesfor us here well north of that except a few towns are snowing others arent. Its a mystery. Doesnt seem like any other small area is reporting this change of snow otg or pouring rsin a mile away almost like swiss cheese the holes are snow and the cheese is heavy rain. You just cant make this up. And no we dont really have any elevation here.

Seems we’re all losing that warm air invasion battle. Seems like the precip field is underwhelming currently and dry slotting. Curious to know how ne pa did since it seemed like much of the day and evening theyve been dry slotted. Rb ill be a neighbor of yours in a lil over 5 yrs when i retire from city. Bought property in hawley ne of lake wally. About 30 mins ne of you. Will build and eventually be up there. How has it been up there tonight. And thank you for all your hard work and dedication…its def appreciated. All of you guys…thank you for your love of weather and dedication to the wonderful world of weather!

It’s now just sleet here.
It must be like an inch or two but it’s definitely not 7 inches here as RB predicted but it’s ok. Very Happy

33 degrees, rain/light snow mix.

Things have turned sloppy, with that sad dripping sound from the trees. Still smells good though.JAN 6th-7th Storm Part II - Page 20 Img_2018

I can confirm it’s 1 inch. I just took a peek out there and it looks like a cold rain. Pretty pathetic storm if you ask me.

If you haven’t done so already - would appreciate if everyone put their city, state in their bio. Helps with times like now with observations and understanding geographic impact. And then I’ll show up to your front door with a bottle of wine singing Italian folklores

Post by rb924119 Sat Jan 06, 2024 8:46 pm

Admittedly, this is shaping up to be a bad bust on my part, though, so I’m pretty salty about that. Yet another storm where the circulation is taking what would normally be a very good track for a lot of us, and we have almost nothing to show for it. I always learned that if you can accurately predict the track of the low, you can predict the impacts. Well so far I’m 2-0 on predicting the tracks, yet 0-2 on the season for impacts, and I don’t take too kindly to that.

I really thought we had it when things shifted last night on the modeling, but call it pride, stubbornness, hope, or just plain ignorance, or a combination thereof, whatever you choose, I was very wrong, and I apologize to you all for the poor performance.

We will see how it turns out after tomorrow, but I’ve taken some lessons away from this one, because I definitely don’t wanna get burned a third time (pun intended), nor burn you guys with bad information.

No need for apologies. Your analysis is awesome. Mother nature doesn't always behave how we expect. That's the frustrating thing about this hobby

Central Park recorded .2" today. Last winter it took until February 1 for measurable snowfall. It's extremely unusual to see two years in a row where it takes at least January for that.
