Tonight is still tricky. Most people got between 8-14 inches from round 1. Anyone get more then 14? Round two, staying conservative, I see 3-6 inches. Which means most of our area would end between 11-20 inches. I think the median number we will see is 16-19 inches. Somewhere in there.
I for example, since I got 14 inches, think I could get near 20 inches

The NAM doesn't appear to give us a whole lot on the back end is that what you were saying Frank? Doesn't show much for NYC 4-6, nothing to complain about but wont verify NWS 18-24 here.

Re: Archived: 2/13/14 Godzilla Storm
You do have to hand it to the NWS this round, they have put all of the local Mets to shame.
Other than Frank, and the experts on this board, Scott (Sroc), Ryan, and Tom the sometimes but always knowledgeable skeptic, Mugs, Zoo and all the rest, (like the Gilligans Island song right Doc, only people over 45 will get that) they were the only outlet predicting these kind of totals yesterday.
I agree with you on the backend stuff Doc most of the time, but the way this winter has gone a big thumping on the backend would not surprise me in the least, from everything I've seen on this board I'm expecting it. Let me clarify when I say big, I mean 4-6 inches for a backend event I consider that big, anything more than 6 would be gravy.

Have already about 14 on ground now...think 14-18 should be right on target unless tonight's snowfall is more than another 4 inches for me.

LOL, Gilligans Island little buddy!
You're right about NWS, they did do a good job. They are the only place I ever cross check the folks here with.
I'm not an expert radar reader, but that backend looks pretty juicy to me.Very interesting to watch this develop, very rare to get big backend thumps.

I noticed on the NWS map it says snow totals from 10pm to 5am, I assume these totals include this morning or we are really in for it!

Re: Archived: 2/13/14 Godzilla Storm
I got a foot of snow this morning National Weather Service has me for 14 to 18 inches total so that's another 2 to 6 inches tonight I think that's reasonable. AccuWeather has 2 to 4 inches for the city in 3 to 6 for the suburbs north and west. right now light drizzle 34 degrees sloppy outside.

Re: Archived: 2/13/14 Godzilla Storm
Ok so I am torn here, or maybe spread a little thin. I am absolutely amazed at how intense the snow bands were this morning...at least 2-4" an hr at times. Incredible. I had to pick up my staff and still make it to work...do surgery, then drive home to do my driveway. Problem is I didnt get home before about 2 hrs of rain fell so my darn snowblower kept clogging. So the old back and arms had to do all the work. 1.5hrs of shoveling, and now back up to work so I can discharge my surgery. After that I am closing early and taking my staff to Phils for a burger and a beer.
Bring on the back end BABY!!!
Winter 2013/2014 FTMFW!!!!
Oh and I got about 11.5" before all the rain started.
