01/23/16 Storm Update #5 - It Is What It Is, Or Is It?

GFS is going to be getting the same extra data that the NAM got (hurricane hunter, etc.). So if the GFS is still bad, then we have quite a problem on our hands lol.

Hopefully this does indeed work out but the NAM might not be picking up the piece of energy to our north like the GFS and Euro did which is why those two models pushed our storm to the ESE to begin with. As a matter of fact you can't even see this northern piece of energy on the NAM but it was clear as day on both the GFS and Euro. We need to see what the GFS and Euro think of that nuisance piece of energy on the next run and it's placement.

The last GFS run did have that northern energy very, very slightly more West than it's previous run which is why the precipitation slightly ticked back NW as a result so here's to hoping that trend holds and the NAM caught on early!

weather channel just used the term "GODZILLA el nino". Should we sue?

Jeez, 4 years old. This makes me feel very old. lol. I'll post my 1996 story in Banter which will explain why that makes me feel old.

For what it's worth (which isn't much because they've been all over the place for 72 hours) TWC which had really downgraded my projected snow totals has now increased them again to somewhere in the 12-18" range.

Two more HH flights scheduled too.

Mt. Holly Blizzard watch and totals have been the same all day, clearly they're waiting to see something tonight too as it expires at 5am tomorrow either gotta go with blizzard warning or wsw.

I tell you one thing after seeing the hi-res models this evening, if the GFS and especially the EURO doesn't come north tonight it will be complete chaos for forecasters.

Just for that reason, that is probably EXACTLY what is going to happen hahaha

Last year around now I was cursing weather channel and there tv show instead of weather coverage. Since then Fios replaced TWC with accuweather which has no local forecast and technology looks like its early 90's. Boy do I miss TWC. I want some actual weather TV that is at least watchable.
