Radar doesn't show but NW off of I80, which is me is definitely mostly sleet and good wind gusts.
JUST went back to all snow here guys I'm about 15 miles due north of I-80 in Southern Sussex. Blizzard conditions have resumed but only just now after about 1 hour of straight sleet....think it will stay snow from now on? Have we started fighting the rain/snow line back south?
crazy. chan 7 reported Wantage is at 13"
hopefully it stays snow now

Subsidence developing over central NJ. Some models showed this. That heavy band in eastern PA is robbing precip.

Yeah, I dare say, other than wind (which has also now diminished), it's doing nothing right now where I am which is where the subsidence is developing.

In Franklin, central Sussex County, NJ...had about an hour of insane snow/sleet mix. Back to heavy snow. Last measurement before the sleet we were at 13 inches. Wind is pretty impressive too.

Joanne, if it looks like a frozen snowflake, with white inside an ice pellet it's graupel. If it is clear ice pellets it's sleet.

Seems like between you me and RB we have a general consensus 12-15 here in Sussex with about an hour of sleet between 930-1030. Lets hope we can keep this thing together up here so at least some people in NJ cash in huge....
Heavy snow and 21 degrees. Slight slight sleet mix but predominantly snow. It's a battle....
Frank any chance that dry patch makes it's way all the way up here to the top of the state? Say North of I-80?

Yes. Snowing lightly at my location. The local news is saying the snow totals will be going up in my area because it started earlier than expected. Waiting for Met to come back on with details.
The Met showed his future cast model and it showed mixing in my area. ??????
He needs a new radar if that's true. It's probably from 1917
I guess this guys 1917 future cast radar works pretty well. LOL !

Snow Man that was hilarious!!!
I can't believe how badly models busted. Like I said, the EURO had the 850mb isotherm off the coast practically. It's over central NJ!

Re: *Roidzilla 2017* - Final Call Snow Map / Observations
It's hard to tell who's getting what on the radar. I mean the storm is covering a lot of area but the totals are so different. I woke up this morning to snow falling like rain. Literally in a short amount of time 6-8 inches piled up. Since then it's just sleet/ice. If this storm does end around 2pm or 4 and doesn't switch back over soon then a lot of the Bergen County area was waaaaay overdone on the maps.

+NAO, March, coastal hugger, sloppy H5 phasing. I should have seen the writing on the wall with this one. Kinda disappointed. I fell into a trap with some of these models showing such cold solutions, but that's why they preach Meteorology not Modelology. Oh well, live and learn.
