Hi Frank. I'm not going outside to measure but it is reaching the top of my tires. And it's still snowing steadily. Hopefully we'll reach 12" and don't let anyone give you crap. You do a great job!

was at 14 at 1030 now can't get out my door to see but looks like around 20 can't see my car what a storm for such a sort time.

Let's see you predict the future consistently. Really insulting to hear the complaining from followers on this board. From years of following meteorology it is clear to me and should be to everyone else that snowstorms of this magnitude are extremely hard to forecast given the extreme dynamics. Please stop complaining!!! I do not read the banter thread ever for this reason alone!

Snowing the hardest all day here in Staten Island. Have a nice mix of snow/ice/snow to shovel in a little while. Looks like at least 6 inches.

Good for you! Here in NE Essex it basically started sleeting 9:30 and, but for a bit of snow mixing for a some short periods, it hasn't stopped sleeting. Looks like 5-6" snow and 2-3" of sleet on top.

Doc, CP is it still snowing at your locations ?

Radar shows some back building in Eastern PA. If that could give us a few more inches that would be great. Sleet has made me a sad guy today.

Hopatcong Update:

SNowing buckets for the past hour. Some sleet mixing in from time to time but since 12PM predominantly snow. Measured 16.2 inches here but getting tough to tell as wind is REALLY picking up now. This is by far the most intense the storm has been all day. Really coming down.

I wonder how much more we can expect up here in NW Jersey. Staying all snow from this point on?

WeatherBob how does Caldwell look? I work out there off of Bloomfield ave and am unsure how hard they are getting hit.

Total as of now, 9 to 10 in. The sleet coating is real bad. Mostly over for the time being.

Things have picked up quite a bit, there was a big lull in the winds now they are ripping and theres quite a bit of snow/sleet mix coming down, I can see maybe 1/4 mile.

Maybe the experts here can tell me if I'm wrong but I think that radar is backfilling pretyy nicely.Maybe more in store after a lull?

It looks like there is an area of no moisture over me now on radar, but it is still snowing hard. Interesting...

Hour and a half shoveling, my back is done. Still snowing lightly in Mahwah. I'm having a beer with lunch as my reward.

Is it safe to assume that WHATEVER falls here in NWNJ or NEPA for the duration of this event will fall as snow and not sleet? Because at this point i'm willing to take my 16 inches and run, its blowing all over the place so hard to really get an accurate reading but still snowing. Just hoping it doesn't change back to sleet.
