JAN 9th-10th Flooding Threat

I would.think once that line comes through the worst is likely over but that line while very narrow looks like it means business. I hope it starts to dissipate a bit

Winds really picking up in Hunterdon with approach of squall line…

For members who live west (WNJ & EPA) let us know what the squall line is like. Do we need to hide in the bathroom? I have a jar of Nutella ready to go

A.C. just gusted to 49 kts. Highest I’ve seen on the coast so far.

As long as your Nutella survives the storm you will be fine. There is nothing better than Nutella.

I see the squall line other than that, its light rain here with no wind. Very strange...Is anyone else in NYC area seeing anything interesting?

I will say I have never seen such a straight line before literally south to north. It in fact looks to be in tensifying, i think winds will pick up fairly far ahead of it.

Really? Like it is not doing anything intense? What a bust of a forecast NWS made seems. This is more like a svr t-storm line than a 4-6 hr event (excluding the rain). Jut my opinion, other areas may be experiencing much worse but other than that pic of the tree falling on a car no one appears to observed much.

62 mph gust in Brigantine. 51 mph in Philly.

It did just start to kick in a bit, i can see the rain wisping along the road and blowing in the lights, hard to tell as not too many trees right here. im tempted to drive up to the grocery lot which is more elevated as we get closer to that line.

Definitely very windy here. Can hear the wind howling. Rain has been heavy since late this afternoon so no change there. Still have power (hope I didn’t jinx myself) though.

I’ll wait to see the obs tomorrow before assessing, but at face value, yeah, I’d tend to agree.

sustained winds of 26-30 mph and gusts to 55-60 mph!

Astoria, NY (in queens) We just got a flood warning!

I don’t know if it was a bust. We had heavy rain here all late afternoon and evening and some strong gusty winds now. I don’t think it was anything overly dramatic but I wouldn’t be surprised to see River and stream flooding in some areas by morning. That sometimes lags behind the rain itself.

currently around my area, highways and low lying areas are flooding. BQE has a lot of standing water! RFK area is not doing great either...

It sure is rocketing and not long behind it rain ends, this might be over by midnight except from NYC east.
