It sure is rocketing and not long behind it rain ends, this might be over by midnight except from NYC east.

I am getting heavy rain with gusty winds (easy over 50+ mph). it's been pouring for quite some time. Wonder what the squall line will bring!
Where are you located?
Astoria, NY (in queens) We just got a flood warning!

Okay well aparently I have a floodwarning here but my phone did not go off, doesn't a flood warning trigger the emergency alert? It actually specifies Yonkers too.

Nature doesn't usually make straight lines like that. It looks like a hose pouring water on eastern PA.
never seen anything like it.
sometimes you see a gust front rolling out in front of a thunderstorm that looks pencil thin like that, but it's never that straight, and it travels like a wave.

In that squall line currently and it’s just extremely heavy rain. Wind doesn’t seem to have picked up at all.

It may well be a coastal thing I have been looking at gusts on wundermap and the highest (which arent that high) have been all coastal locations, not surprising but a little that winds did not pick up at all with te squall line.silentwreck wrote:Brookster wrote:In that squall line currently and it’s just extremely heavy rain. It might just be. I just hit a reading of 61 MPH! The sound is insane, the wind is howling and pounding against the windows right now!

Wind is def suddenly picking up, ugg they are putting all the recycling bags out, if we do get higher winds those will be all over the streets. Happened many times and the city does not pick them up!

Guessing you have a wx station? Are you directly on the water? Not seeing any observations like that on wundermap for queens.silentwreck wrote:jmanley32 wrote:It may well be a coastal thing I have been looking at gusts on wundermap and the highest (which arent that high) have been all coastal locations, not surprising but a little that winds did not pick up at all with te squall line.silentwreck wrote:Brookster wrote:In that squall line currently and it’s just extremely heavy rain. Re: JAN 9th-10th Flooding Threat
Still fairly underwhelming but it is picking up and rain has gotten heavier. Living in a brick building that faces another its hard to get winds. But I can see the main road and rain is wisping across the intersection and the street lights are bouncing.frank 638 wrote:I am about 5 mins away from the long island sound I noticed the wind has pick up heavy rain and rising temp .its 55 deg out with a squall line coming what’s next unbelievable

Re: JAN 9th-10th Flooding Threat
Okay the line just crossed over me. Whipping rain with strong wind from the south. Looked like a tropical storm for about 5 min. Over now.
And the lights flickered.
