Will this stay a powdery snow or will it get wetter as the storm evolves ? Any thoughts from our members ? 25* NE wind at 10-15mph and snowing extremely heavy.

Channel 7 still talking about the rain and how that will really mess things up. Need to send them the forum web address.

NWS totals seem low now, when is their next update thinking they may add a 18+ area like where franks is?  Its fun out there, people getting crazy stuck on my hill (near serious truck accident), plows can't keep up. Some local parking lots plows gave up!

Channel 7 just reported that South Orange, NJ has only gotten 3.5". How is that possible when I am in the next town over and I have about 8 inches. The central park guy must be measuring there... lol

Accuweather on line just increased NYC forecast for today from 2-4 inches to 4-8.

This is now after 8 inches have already fallen. It really makes you scratched your head and wonder what they're thinking, or they're just not thinking.

Frank, I was just going to post the same thing. I was just outside to measure and shovel, when I noticed to my surprise that the snow was much more of a powdery consistency. Right at that moment, I thought that there will only be a brief changeover, or none at all. I would move that red area on your map to include the metro area. This looks like a bonafide HECS.

News12NJ has had Tony Caputo and a cameraman out since 4am, driving the streets and highways. Plenty of cars and trucks on the road just about everywhere they've been.

My son works for a pizzeria a few blocks away from home and he walked up, they will be open!

Around here, pizzerias were about the only places open right after Sandy. The owner of one near us drove in from Brooklyn (?) with pre-made crusts and coolers full of sauce, cheese and pepperoni - the only toppings offered. Their oven was gas so they had no problem cooking. Needless to say, they were kept very busy, from opening until their supplies ran out. One weekend day that was as early as 2pm and they just opened at 10am.

I'll go out and measure in a little bit but it is impressive for sure!

Our neighbor with the snowblower has been out about an hour now, and it's at least a foot of freshly fallen snow on the sidewalks. He's trying to get the blower across the street now to do an apartment house's sidewalk and can't get across without clearing the snow in the street, what looks to be at least 8 inches since the last plow came through a few hours ago. It's gonna take him a long time just to cross over.

Currently in West Orange, NJ. About an hour ago my boyfriend shoveled a small patch for his dog to go out and pee. Just went to look at the spot he shoveled and it doesn't look like it was ever touched.

These 29 to 33 degree sea water temperatures we have right now may be factoring into the surface temperatures not rising if at all. It won't help the mid levels from not rising but as stated a couple of days ago I wonder if the models had that factored in or they just use a historical average which is 5 degrees higher than what we now have.

Also in west orange.   Currently 10 on the ground.   Doesnt appear to be a change over immenient.  Snow is light and fluffy.   Still moderate to heavy snowfall rate at least 1" per hour.  The band that came through between 8-9am left about 4 inches
