Re: General Banter
This heat wave of 37 degrees predicted here on Sunday has me thinking about LBI down the Jersey Shore.Anybody here in the late 80's and 90's ever go to the Crane's Surf City Hotel to see the zany and crazy act of Paul Presto and Jackie Vee known as "Presto and Vee"?
It was a hilarious interactive event with them passing the microphone to patrons at the bar to sing, people like "Manahawkin Annie", a classic old lady with a great voice. They also ran a ski trip which I went on.

Doc, I stayed on LBi for 21 years. I saw Manahawkin Annie for many years at Nardi's for their Saturday afternoon Party at Nardi's dance and a drinkin! The bartender did Sinatra almost as well as Frank himself.

Taffy, great, yeah, I was at Nardi's a few times in my run down there from '88 to 2011.You knew Manahawkin Annie,LOL, guess she made the rounds of all the joints down there. My buddies still rent a house the week before Memorial Day but they are five years younger than me and can stay up until all hours boozing their brains out.No way I can keep up with them anymore as I am rapidly advancing to old fogey land.
Now, my Fiancee and I go to the Windswept Motel in Point Pleasant 3 or 4 days in early September after Labor Day.I love that time as the kids are all back to school and the water is still pretty warm as well as the weather.

Doc, it's funny for 21 years I went to LBI on the Saturday before Labor Day for the week. Up until 10 years ago it was peaceful and not very crowded. Now it's "almost" like mid summer down there for that week.

I think with the bad economy the last 6 years, more people decided to stay closer to home for their vacations and that's why the Island stays busy through the Labor Day weekend.JMHO.

I love the winter but even this one is starting to grate. My future wife is a winter HATER, so in the future, I'll be in Florida Jan,Feb and Mar and that's why I am enjoying this one so much! Probably a good thing because I took a bad fall on the ice in front of Mom's house and got very lucky.Had to be helped up by a couple of DPW guys ("help, I've fallen and I can't get up!"). Winter is rapidly becoming no country for an old man like me!

Doc, I remember the fall, and glad you escaped unscathed, but the snow bird thing? That is truly a tragedy.
My wife of 26 years talks the same talk but we're still 5-7 years away from that. I've already told her moving south for part of the year is fine with me as long as it's April 15 through October 15. I realize of course I will not have the last say.

Mugsy, remember the old Italians smoking the DeNobili cigars in the yellow and blue boxes? They looked like and smelled like dried up dog crap.Yeah, remmber Rickel and Chanel well, there was one in Mahwah and I went there a lot from 1980 up when I bought my dumpy old fixer upper (all I could afford) in Mahwah.Glad my lawn chair cigar episode brought back happy memories of Dad.
Mugsy, you know the old equation...."Happy Wife=Happy Life",LOL!

Yeah, I always get the last words in on an argument with my future wife who I have been with 19 years....."Yes, Dear!"
I am a Snow Weenie through and through and it will be tough going to Florida for the winter but I will live it through you guys on the board. Also, if my 94 year old Mom makes it to 100, I won't be going for another 6 years like you.
We'll have to hook up in Florida some day and spend the afternoon in the refridgerator of an old butcher shop.I'll bring the lawn chairs....

Classic as always.
We also have to get the "Core Four" together before that, fabulous five including Taffy?, and settle the name dispute on OTI. The broken foot may have distracted me for a time, but the dream lives on.
May I add I hope your mom makes 110.

CP, I just read that you broke your foot. I hope you heal fast and with no pain. Geez, these things happen fast and I'm always the last to know. It's not like I'm hiding in a coconut tree somewhere.

Excellent as always.
Thanks seeing a podiatrist today, I'm hoping its a quick heal. It's a bad time of year for me to be house bound, unless of course it's for a historic blizzard, then I'll stay in as long as necessary and love every minute of it.
