Re: January 23, 2016 Roidzilla Observations
My husband just went downstairs to look outside. He said the front porch - an area protected from the wind - has at least 2 feet right now and it's coming down so heavy it's almost a white-out.
When I last looked across the street, about a half hour ago, the drifts were obscuring the entire first landing of 10 steps on that apartment house. I can't really see all that clearly now to see how much worse it got.
The city plows came down 4 times this morning between 5am and noon, none at all since. The private snowplow that was doing the condos' driveway and parking lot a bit down the block once an hour this morning has also given up and hasn't been around since about 11:30.
For about 2 hours there was a group of about 4 little kids with those plastic saucer sleds outside going down the 10 foot high hill made by that plow by the condos. They went in for lunch and never came back.
Even our neighbor with the snowblower gave up after his second clearing in 2 hours. You can't even see where he plowed now, between the heavy snow coming down and the drifting snows.

Holy s**t. Walked around the area its crazy the last hr or so. Abandoned cars littered around. Snow is falling at an insane rate. If it was 2"/hr earlier, this feels like double that. Walking feels near impossible.

Very light snow, hoping the deathband stays together while it pivots.

Re: January 23, 2016 Roidzilla Observations
Here in Midtown East it's been snowing hard most of the day. I opened a window and measured the accumulated snow on my ledge: just over 19 inches. I was here for the 2006 blizzard which was the largest snowfall in NYC history. Maybe we will top that!

Yeah I'm nervous here, my son works on the railroad and is getting ready to go in even though service is suspended. You can hardly see out the window....

It seems like that band is hardly moving. Been sitting under that for a while, like it just gets stronger. Right by the pink.
