After a brief let up to mod/heavy snow its back to the extreme stuff.
The relentless nature of the snow reminds me of my college days in MI with lake effect snow.

19.5 inches as of 4:00 pm so 7.5 to go. It's no lock by any stretch but top 3 seems a given.
Personally I'm rooting for 30. Doubtful but it'd be pretty cool.

Supposedly 7pm they are updating their totals TWC said so they'll bump it to 20" lol

21* and still moderate snow. Radar shows I might be getting some rare upslope enhancement.

Re: January 23, 2016 Roidzilla Observations
CP I'm gonna go to Central Park and take the measurements myself. 19.5 at 4PM means we were really at 21. Been snowing heavily since then. 30" would be a huge gamble. But if whoever measures snow at the park (zookeeper) did his/her job properly NYC will seriously be flirting with the record when this is over.CPcantmeasuresnow wrote:crippo84 wrote:NYC is going to break the record with the current snowfall rate and radar observations.

Glad you guys are enjoying this snowstorm! I am pissed that I am missing it. Was partly sunny and cold here in Binghamton, NY today.

Snow pretty much done here now. I measured 15". Town just south of me reported the same so I know my measurements are correct.

That's how we all feel when Binghamton gets the lake effect snow.

As usual the Washington DC reading of 27 inches is not WDC, it's Dulles airport in Virginia a good 35 miles and higher elevation outside of WDC. The 14.9 at Reagan national is the only reporting station actually in WDC.
Every outlet does that but none perpetuate it more than TWC. So dumb.

CP, my way you would need Scotch Tape to take a snow reading.
