In all my years of weather watching and observing storms, I can never recall a storm with so many changes with precipitation type. It just keeps flip flopping between Snow, sleet, and a combo of both.

I too saw flakes the size of the palm of my hand. I've never seen that before. I have sleet or hail pounding my house and the winds are really picking up. The shades in my bedroom window are blowing out. I think I need replacement windows! white flag

Will the storm start tracking east? My sleet really looks like it wants to change over to snow. It's sleeting so hard it's effecting visibility

7.5" snow total before sleet started. Heavy sleet/snow mix now north shore li. so close to a big one for us on long island but good to see north and west folks getting pounded! They have been screwed many times over the last couple years

Wind is also increasing. I also live in Nutley, NJ.

With those returns over me I would expect the precip would at least be heavy.

This really sucks. Woke up to the same show as others.... giant snowflakes but sounded like sleet hitting the house. Not it seems as though it has switched totally over to sleet. Can't even get a regular snow storm without mixing. It's going to be hell shoveling this crap. Haven't measured yet but will post later.

So much sleet here that the street they just plowed about 15 minutes later is now covered by what looks like a toxic cream of wheat or grits spill.

This was measured before all the compaction with sleet. Totally forgot about the 1.5" i had on ground already from past storm. So make that 6" snow total. Crazy sharp cutoff I guess! I am very northwest suffolk county, more so than smithtown and a little more than commack, wild!

1.5" sleet here in Syosset. Up at mom and dads in Ulster County NY. 13" so far and the heavy stuff of at least 2" per hour moving in now. By 3 pm looking at radar they will be well over 24". Mom says it's like baby powder. 19 degrees. Can't see 100 yds
