*Roidzilla 2017* - Final Call Snow Map / Observations

I turned to sleet mix not long ago definitely cutting the snow rates

1.5" sleet here in Syosset. Up at mom and dads in Ulster County NY. 13" so far and the heavy stuff of at least 2" per hour moving in now. By 3 pm looking at radar they will be well over 24". Mom says it's like baby powder. 19 degrees. Can't see 100 yds

absolutely pouring snow right now, can't even see directly across the street. Quickly closing in on 12".

I know it's almost over as the sleet is just south of me but this is still an amazing storm.

I second sroc's motion. If this thing was just 20 miles further east I'd probably have a foot of snow right now, instead of 2" of sleet on top of 6" of snow.

I've never seen a storm like this before. Heavy snow. Flakes the size of my palm, freezing rain and now sleet. Winds were steady at 26mph for a while with some huge gusts.

Warmer air aloft. Snow melts into rain droplets at it passes through the warm air aloft, then as it re-enters the layer of freezing air closer to the surface it re-freezes into ice pellets - sleet.

Just got done shoveling a foot of snow in Stillwater NJ at 1190 ft elevation , I think 3 more inches have fallen, the wind is blowing real good and the snow is coming down sideways , currently 20 degrees , all good ! Thanks Frank for functioning and accomplishing at the highest possible level! You do a great job with this here weather club !
