Re: May 2020 Observations & Discussions
Starting to look like this May snow could be real? I’m starting to feel pretty confident the rain ends as snow Friday night. Probably no accumulation (except maybe in higher elevations of NJ like Sussex Co.), but can definitely see flakes falling from the sky for many people if you stay awake late enough.

Re: May 2020 Observations & Discussions
Janet, what a nice idea. We have been Zooming all day every day around here for work and school.
Let's see if your idea gains traction. I must say Spectrum has been rock solid.
Woke up this morning to 35 degrees at 5 am. For some reason, going outside reminded me of an August summer morning where it can get down at night and be crisp in the morning. Everything outside is on hold for at least until next weekend. Can't even think about the pool. Still burning the wood stove (on now) and it feels like I could be reaching for hot cider and looking at the leaves changing color.
And yes. Open the economy.

This is really going to be a historic storm? I am not seeing much in the way of any advisories for anywhere?

I don't think historic in the sense that there will be accumulating snow requiring advisories, but historic in the sense that there will be snow in the month of May, which is not all that common. I think last time that happened in these parts was back in 1977.

Snow not that far away from me here in Saugerties. Wonder if this will make it all the way to the coast?

I don’t think it will make it to the coast. My guess is that anywhere north and west of I-287 will be as far south and east as the snow gets in NJ. I do think anyone could see some snow flurries tomorrow on those strong northwest winds (lake effect remnants).

Re: May 2020 Observations & Discussions
Just in the last 15 minutes or so winds have shifted to the NW and turned very gusty. Down to 41* with wind driven rain. If it’s going to go over to snow I’d expect it soon. Either way - much too cold and raw for May.

Re: May 2020 Observations & Discussions
The fact that on May 8 we’re even monitoring a possible changeover to snow is pretty incredible; especially since we almost never came close to snow in January and February,
